all elf teams - should they take a second +1 ST

Ok, I searched and could not find advice about this.
I have 2 dark elf teams and 2 high elf teams in "infinite" league play.
My two DE teams have now gotten 1 Blitzer who has gotten +1 ST.
The question came up in my mind, if double 6s came up again, would it be best to have a ST 5 elf or use them doubles to give him Mighty Blow or Guard? Or something?

ST5, Block, A access! What a killer combo!

Taking +ST is never a question, is it? It's the single best advance... I just faced a dark elf team with a blitzer that had ST 5, block dodge and diving tackle. Frightening.

Wait for him getting sidestep. You dont want to blitz him then, if he marks your cage.
I would nearly always take +STR. There are only two occasions, where i would not take it:
1.) I allready have +2STR
2.) BigGuy with allready STR6 and no Block. Then Block is more important in my oppinion.

I wouldn't take it on a snotling, either, or on a player who's suffered a ST decrease. But other than that, yeah - a ST5 elf blitzer-type would be awesome.

I've got to disagree with you there. I'll take 3 die blocks against most players over block any day.

But that's something you can easily achieve with only 1 assist. And 2 dice with block is better than 3 dice without block.

With a strength 5 ball carrier it will be difficult for the defender to get 2D on that guy. So take strengt and get him to dodge.

We could do the math now, but Mootaz allready said the correct thing. 2d with Block has better odds then 3d without. In offence, and defense.

Both I and the math agree.

Strength 5 opens up tactics elves don't (Shouldn't?) have access to. Strength 4 and a skill is pretty nice. No contest in my mind.
As for Big Guys, I'm personally fine with the odds from a 3 die block! Why the need to improve on it? Instead, make your Ogre nigh unassailable, which is generally more useful anyway. Then he will be a victim of fewer hits, nearly immune to dauntless...

ST7 is very cool on a linebacker. The oppo pretty much has to go the other way because there's just no way through on that side. This guy also really opens up some avenues for asymmetric lines, and makes a great nose-man in the two-gap, esp. against teams with only ST3 or ST4 players.
I'd call it a wash.

Not taking the +St is like killing a kitten.
Edit: try
Should I take the +St?.

S7 is probably better on defence than S6 - its much harder to get a 2 dice block against since your average S5 player still needs 3 assists. Being hit 1 dice without block is better than 2 dice with block.
However the difference is pretty marginal so the weaker offence more than counter acts any defensive advantage.
But S7 is sooo much more fun

I'd take it anyway just for the look of disgust on my opponent's face

Thanks guys. I was asking because I really could not tell if on an elf a ST 5 was going to be worth the cost. But ye have convinced me otherwise. Now the hard part, rolling those box cars again.
