Huge Inducements against Dark Elves using Slann

Well round 7 of our league is approaching and because nobody seems to like Slann and what they can do my team has been decimated (not a single CAS has been caused by a failed leap) and I am looking at playing a Dark Elf team that is progressing quite well. I have 650k to spend on inducements and only have 6 rostered players going to appear for this game.

Blitzer:Wrestle
Catcher:rookie
Lineman: Guard, Kick
Lineman: Wrestle
and 2 more rookie linemen

My team details can be found here:
http://brawl.bloodbowlleague.com/default.asp?p=ro&t=hua

I am facing the following Dark Elf team:
http://brawl.bloodbowlleague.com/default.asp?p=ro&t=nag

He has a roster of 12 players and I'm not sure how to spend the absolute fortune that I have available to me. Do I just try and decimate his team with a chainsaw, bribe and wizard (filling the rest of the slots up with journeymen) or do I take a few mercs plus stars?

Get Morg! Smash those Dark Elves into the ground with a proper hard player!

Also, just stack up on Journeymen. Then hire any of them that get SPP's.

Take a mercenary kroxigor. A kroxigor wont really care about having the loner skill tagged on so its a bit of a bargin, add to that that kroxes were designed to screw up agility teams and are arguably the best big guy in the game.

I'd take all 5 available journeymen too, they're easily the cheapest way to get some bodies onto the pitch to give your team some kind of endurance and some chance of not being rolled off the pitch.

After those two purchases you'd be left with.... 180k. Take a chainsaw (80k) and make sure you foul with it, try to recieve and then hold the ball for as long as possible while fouling prone elves, give them a taste of what you've been through. The remaining 100k dosent have anything "obvious" to be spent on so either bloodweiser babes or special play cards. Personally I'd go for two miscellaeous mayhem cards because those are good for springing that ball free (something you might struggle to do).

If you take the chainsaw, I suggest you a bribe with the last 100k

Nice idea but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it'll be a waste - chainsaws are mostly for fouling and occasionally for blitzing. If they're blitzing the chances are that they'll kickback or get knocked down when they fail to crunch someone, usually that takes them off the pitch. If they're fouling then either they're going to have an accident or get sent off (wasting the bribe when they are auto sent off at the end of the half).

I can see that potentially you'll get almost two halves of chainsaw action but my experience is that this just wont happen. A key benefit of the chainsaw is that its cheap, the bribe kinda stops that being the case.

A bribe is never wasted. If chainsaw is sent off because of a foul (not so easy, only 17% each foul) or is injuried (not KO) the bribes is still there and you can continue to foul each turn until you use that bribe
I really do think that it can still be usable. It cost 100.000 not because of chainsaw... but because it's effective... and if your opponent know you've the bribe, will be FORCED to run and blitz the guy as fast as he can... but he still need to roll 8 for armor, and 9 for injury

When you break armor (which you will with a chainsaw against elves) the chances of getting sent off is 30%, not 17% (because doubles on either armor or injury count).

Additionally, when the chainsaw goes down, there's the +3 on the armour roll.

Not quite, sorry. It depends on opponent armor, your math is flawed
Here is the RIGHT percentage

Code: Select all

AV %
10 22,22%
 9 25,00%
 8 26,85%
 7 28,70%
 6 29,63%
And again... if it is sent off by the ref, the bribes is still there, and I can continue to foul each turn until I use it

So your stats show he's sent off 29,xx% of the time vs dark elves (average AV is 8 - 3 of the chainsaw is 5)? Isn't that exactly what Ullis is saying? (ok he said 30% but let's not split hairs here) :?:
Ullis is also right in pointing out that 6 would break armour when the chainsaw goes down instead of the 8 you mentioned.

I do agree that a bribe would be a good investment to take though...

What did you read? Against Armor 8 the % is 26,85% (the -3 modifier is still considerated by my calculation)
And again. If the player is sent off, the bribes do not disappear, is still very usefull, expecially against AV 8 or less

1) Relax
2) 26,85% is still a lot closer to 30 percent then the 17% you posted earlier
3) I'm not saying it's not usefull, quite the contrary (read my previous post again)
