High Elf teams (all other elf teams) in a Bashy League

I looked and my Search Fu seems not to have found what I was looking for.

What I am looking for is advice on skill choices and tactics on how to approach games my High Elves will be in a mostly Bashy perpetual league. I play only in PBeM, and well I have noticed Elf (all types) teams seem to gain TV rapidly, which puts the less overall skilled teams in with more skilled bashy teams.

I am not looking at the early games, but skill choices to make them last through the upper TV games (which will mark most of their existance).

All advice would be listen to, but particularly advice for High Elves.

The particulars: I play in the MBBL league. Most of the time once you reach 175 TV, your facing 75% bashy teams, so I need ideas on how to develop my team to take on bashy teams. I am not a great coach, but love the game, love team building, and winning when I can. So far my biggest problem seems that my High Elves put on tin foil for armor, and Death visits often.

I have tried a lot of teams and currently am trying to run 2 HE teams and 2 DE teams, 1 of my Dark Elf teams is Nuffles Blessed which is a themed team of no TRRs. The Blessed have a horrible record over their 40+ games, but I have had a ton of fun. I seem to do better with my Dark Elf team rather than the High Elf, so I am seeking advice on the High Elf.

Well there are two theories. One is that you load up on skills that prevent you being hurt - in particular block, wrestle, dodge. Later fend would kick in as a it stops piling on. These all really help because they reduce the number of av rolls your opponents get to make - meaning your players live longer.

In really bash heavy leagues there can be relatively few tacklers especially if the league is light on dwarves. In which case dodge is more useful than block/wrestle for surviving. In longer leagues dodge is less valuable later, but still worth having.

The other theory is that you should concentrate on scoring/turning over and that the more you keep your opponent on the back foot the more you'll be able to protect your players.

Or both.

Linemen and Blitzers should be defensive, Catchers and Throwers offensive. As in, defensive takes a beating, offensive throws the ball around and scores repeatedly.

Seems to be the only way to really do well with Elves. That don't come from woods.

With high Elves, concentrate on skills which allow your blitzers abd catchers to be distruptive and survive! In other words, Dodge. For your linemen, the key is mobility. If you aren't in a tackle zone, you can deploy to an area where you give assists, can help a teammate get free, etc.

Dodge is the best way to do all of these things! Fend/Side Step is great on line-elves, and Leap is great as well (although I'd pick up my third re-roll before going leap heavy.)

As for block, it's a good skill for a few players early for your offense, but it isn't as useful defensively in ultra-bashy leagues, as many bashy teams start with precious little block, and thus won't be able to choose this strategy.

All these strategies fail when you go up against dwarves, of course! So I tend to mix dodge, fend, and side step (in that order) on my linemen, and give my catchers dodge and block. My blitzers are great to have Frenzy or Dauntless.

Finally- pick guard on every doubles roll with line elves. And consider it for your positionals as well (although MB also is great), especially if they have side Step.
