Hi Folks,
this is my first posting in this Forum so be nice to the new guy.

I play smashy Orks in an league with lots of agil teams, so what do you advice me to take for the Troll? Movement +1 would be nice to get him where the Actions is, but there are so much other good looking skills like Block, Stand Firm or Dodge.

For me on a Troll:
Strength > Double > Movement > Skill > Agility

The chance to get Pro or Block on a troll (or dodge) is much more important then more movement on a roadblocker like a troll.

I'd go with block. It will gain you casualties and keep your troll on his feet, particularly in the face of dwarves and the like... It will also make him even harder to shift on the LOS.

Hmmm. I think I favour Dodge, cuz i don't wan't to give up the Chance to take a "Double-Skill". Block can be bought with the second "normal" improvment (although 8 SSP away).

@Leipziger
I understand you favour Block. But there are no Dwarves or other smashy Teams in my League. Only one other Ork-Player, the Rest is Skaven, Dark Elves, Wood Elves, Norse, Human and Amazons.

I can understand that Cap, but with a skill that allows you better attack & defence, you will garner SPPs more quickly and have more chance to advance to the next skill upgrade :) (a double skill is also an extra cost to your TR - although, admittedly only a small one)

Good to hear that your league is not bashtastic :), but block with give more chance to cause more casualties , especially as there are quite a few AV7 teams in your league. Although dwarves may be absent, I am sure a few of the norse team as well as the blitzers on the other teams will not be shy of trying a 1/2 d block to get you big guy on his ass.

For a troll the double 5+5 skill choices break down as follows:

Block > Pro > +MA > Frenzy > Dodge

And unless you're playing a different rules set to the normal ones used by people Trolls cannot get Block on a normal roll, they need a doubles.

Short version, take Block. If by some bizzare chance your league allows players like trolls to get general skills on normal rolls then celebrate and take the +MA. Dodge is pretty poor on the troll in an Orc team imo.

Block is very good against non-bashy teams because it makes the troll even harder to knock down, makes him harder to push away from players and increases the chances he'll eliminate opposing players.

Blockity, Block, Block, Block...!

Then Break Tackle on a regular roll....

Block was the obvious choice, like everybody said. I think he should get Guard next, as ST5 is great at nose tackle. What do your smashy Orcs look like otherwise? Specifically, how do your Black Orc Blockers look? That's a big variable in Troll development. Include SPP totals, injuries, and team record.

A troll only need three skills to be great, and one is a double!

Block, Guard and Stand Firm @ 180K

Makes the troll low cost and effective!
