St4 Hobbo

Post by Grumbledook »

I have a hobbo thats just got +st and already has tackle, i am guessing block is the next obvious skill, but what options are there for him, going with doubles, a ball carrier, blitzer or whats everyone thoughts?

Sounds like a great ball carrier to me! You already have enough players on a CD team that can lay down the beatings.

A grat ball carrier indeed, but still go for block, or he wont carry the ball for a long time. Add to this that your opppenent loves to smack down the players that you like the most. The hobbo will be feared and therefor he will be hit.
Go for block and when he has scored a lot of T-Diddys give him some agile skills

SURE HANDS for the pick up rolls and the one time the opponent's guy with Strip ball gets his chance...

Definitely a ball carrier! He can do the job better than a bull centaur with his AG3 (he won't turn the ball over every fourth time you try to give it to him).

Block comes next, then sure hands and pro. On a double, dodge is the way to go.

Block for a normal skill or Dodge on a double.

Anything that makes it harder to injure him is very important as he's only Av7.

You should have enough TRR's that you can use those to pick up the ball.

Sure hands is more meant to cancel strip ball than to pick up the ball.

Then it comes down to a league thing. In my league not many people take strip ball, so no one really bothers with Sure Hands, except for pickups.

Everyone goes for dodge or tackle instead to try to keep players on their feet or put players down.

IMO block is a more useful skill since it helps keep you on your feet when blocked (vital for Av 7) and allows you to make blocks with a very low chance of failure. Sure hands only works if you have the ball, and then only if you get hit by a player with Strip Ball.

IMO

Block first to keep him on his toes and even alllows you to use him as a blitzer, then Sure Hands hopefully you'll only neded to use this once per half, buit why burn a re-roll.

Hell i could live with a Hobgobklin with St4 Block and sure hands, even if he necer picks up another skill.

Well he allready had tackle before picking up block, block will definatly be the next skill he gets, but what if i get another double or stat increase, get dodge instead?

On a st 4 hob, any stat increase should be kept. I wouldnt give up anything for a skill.

Absolutely get dodge on a double. You've got the makings of a killer blitzer there.

Then i suggest you get stip ball as your next skill for any of your blitzer or linemen and amaze everyone in your league. Strip ball is a great skill, something that you always need one or two players to have on your team. I think your league gravely underestimates this skill, you should show them how wrong they are!

Block, no doubt. Able to pick up the ball and to go forward with the BC, or to follow them the dogfight and to pick up the ball after.

Call me crazy, but I went with Guard on a double.

So, he is St4, AG 3, Block, Guard.

I'm thinking Tackle or Strip Ball as his next skill.
