best off asking in the tactics section rather than here

not played ogres myself so can't offer much help in that regard

maybe a nice mod would move your thread

I haven't played Ogres, but snots only cost 20K to replace, whilst both Rerolls and Ogres cost 140K once a league is in progress. You won't often have that kind of cash around. Snots seem like a poor investment in comparison since they die really easily. Someone did a long Ogre tactic thread on the GW forum (might have been Fen). But something like this might work:

4 Ogres
4 RRs
8 Snots

Then you have a nice solid re-roll base (you'll need them!) that can be relied on even in the bad times. Re-rolls can't be killed, unlike your players.

If you try to fit in one more Ogre the best you can do is:

5 Ogres
2 RRs
8 Snots

which seems less effective from a theorybowl POV.

I hope you are playing LRB6. The new Stunty rule means your Snots will die from only 11% of casualties instead of 17%. That's going to make the team a lot more fun to use. :D

Ok, well don't worry about that then. :D

But if you wonder what I meant: The BB rules have changed a few times in recent years, but they are due to be set in stone towards the end of 2009. That set of rules is called Living Rulebook 6 (LRB6) and can be downloaded from free via this thread.

Do a quick search - there have been lots of ogre threads fairly recently. See the one on Snotpicks, for example.

Roster one please, Roster 2 - ugh. It really doesn't work right.

Everyones lying. You don't need ogres in an ogre team!

For a 1mil team, you can take:

16x snotlings
8x re-rolls
1x apothecary
and STILL have 70k left to play with! :P

Of course, if you wanted to be a girl about it and use ogres in your ogre team (you big girl!) then I'd highly recommend Joemanji's first list, with the 4 ogres. It gives you enough re-rolls, while the 2nd one will leave you short at key moments.

Oddly, I went Roster 2 and it went really well. (6-3-1 season final). Going that route, though, you have to be extremely cognisant on your lack of rerolls and play that way.

Both work, one allows you to be more aggressive, and the other allows you to punt people around but playing with the ball's dicey.

I would actually prefer roster 2 from a theorybowl point of view.

I would regard 5 Ogres as the minimum efffective number, particularly for defense.

By way of corroboration, I suspect it is unlikely that you would encounter fewer than 5 Ogres in a tournament side.

Hope this helps.

Most tournament rosters are 1.1M, so this is a bit misleading. Plus, league builds are often completely different from tournaments. Especially on a team whose linemen are ST1, AV5 and +2 to Inj.

You would in mine, just FYI. I like the rerolls, and really dislike running out of snotlings.

Yeah, that is how I would run them in a tournament. 15-16 men is probably your only chance of having 11 left to field by the 2nd half.

Maybe:
4 Ogres
4 Rerolls
12 Snots
2 FF (or whatever).
