DE Blitzer skill?
Need some input for a DE blitzer's second skill roll. He has +1 St (so now 4). No doubles on the roll. What to do? Dodge could help, since the team only has 1 Witch Elf. Catch could make that AG 4 would be an insurance. Leap could be a pretty nice addition to a rookie club that's not fairing well on defense with bashers. Thoughts?

I gave my ST4 DE blitzer leap, and he became the menace of every opponent. If the opponent gets a cage together, you can leap him in there and get a hit on the ball carrier, generally two dice in your favor.
But generally they won't even get to that point. Send him leaping over the front lines and he totally disrupts the backfield.

Leap's pretty good in that it's useful both sides of the ball. Handy on younger teams. Then again so's Blodge, esp. with ST4.
Two (main) things have a bearing on these type of questions: existing roster and League make-up. Tackle for example is important in some leagues and near useless in others. Dodge is less useful in a Tackle heavy enviroment.

Leap makes him a real cage buster, although if you are light on TRR's this could be an expensive way of using them up. The other downside is that it makes him a much more tempting target - some coaches will just be out to kill him. I'd certain consider a S4 AG4 leaper as the #1 target, almost regardless of what you have in the rest of the team.
Otherwise you may want to consider tackle or strip ball. These are pretty much league dependant - lots of dodgers -> tackle, otherwise strip ball.
Dodge probably isn't so necessary, sure it helps keep him on his feet but S4 helps with that anyway.
Probably go leap, strip ball/tackle, dodge, side step.
If you get a double ignore frenzy as you don't want him dragged out of position so I'd either go for Jump Up (so he can block all the time) or Mighty Blow (as he is going to be hitting people a lot).

I'd go with strip ball. Leap is really kewl, but you will end up burning a lot of rerolls (as mentioned above) getting your guys landing. I suggest waiting until you get some guys with AG5 before you lay on the leap. I have a strip ball DE blitzer, and I love that guy, and he doesn't even have ST 4.

Well, right now I'm leaning towards leap. The club's only witch elf happens to have just played her first game at AG 5, so I can't wait to take advantage of that. They just tend to get worn down in the later stages of the game, when the armour rolls begin pouring in and injury rolls quickly rack up KO's and nasty injuries. So I figure Leap will help defensively, but I do understand the risk of being a target. Is it worth the risk? The fact that he's a DE blitzer probably makes him a target anyway, especially already having ST4. hmm...decisions, decisions.

If it's a bash heavy league I'd be tempted to go with Dodge rather than leap. The reason being that he will be a target. If you try to leap and fail (which you inevitably will) you'll more than likely have the crap fouled out of you.
On the other hand, a guy with ST4 and Blodge may well be a target but you'll find him drawing a disproportionate number of players all out to put him down. This will not only draw fruitless blocks and blitzes from the opponent, but will possibly burn rerolls &/or draw tacklers away from your more vulnerable witch elves.

Oopsies. That's what happens when you have too many windows open. This is the DE thread, not the minotaur thread. Anyway...
I have a DE blitzer with side step and strip ball who makes me very happy. He gets right up into the face of those cagers, and even if he gets knocked over, he falls in a good place, usually able to pop up and blitz the inside of the cage without dodging (because of side step). With block strip ball, I am willing to take a half-die block, frequently that will result in the ball squirting free for somebody else to grab. He's a really good defensive playmaker.

i agree totally. tackle or strip ball depends on your style of play. but i think i would angle for tackle. makes great for taking on players with dodge if there is a lot of it about in your leagueKorhil wrote:7448 Block,Dodge... looks good to me.
Go with Tackle or Strip Ball next.
Dodge offers more to an AG4 player that Leap does.
