Amazons or humans...

Hy all,
We are starting a new league in a few weeks, and I've bought some beautiful hasslefree miniatures too make myself a beautiful all nearly naked women team... 8)
Point is, i'm not sure if I should play them as humans or amazons in our league. Amazons have the "dodge in entire army rule", wich is very good according to me, while humans or slightly more resilient with AV8 and generally a tad faster. Also noticed a human thrower starts the drive with sure hands already...

We have 1000000 starting value to spend, apothecary is not for free...

Go with 'zons-what better models to play them as. If they're naked, then they should be AV7, not 8...

But aesthetics aside, 'Zons are very (some say too) good in the short term, especially if there are no dwarven teams. Tackle obviously kills them and they do lack speed.

Humans are more difficult to play well, but no-one would ever complain with you for playing them and they are probably stronger in the longer term.

Go vamps :) The naked ladies will make great thralls. and they're av 7.

It's what I did, a halfing vamp, and his lady harem.

Plus vamps are really good, much more competitive than amazons.

Trust me, would a stranger on the internet lie to you?

or Norse.

I used bunnies and hasslefree for my human team.

The one in power armor "Tank Girl" has 7 4 4 8 Block, Mighty Blow, Tackle. :D

If you're just asking which team is better, it's Humans. Dodge more than makes up for AV7, but your lack of higher MA with Zons is a killer. Humans are a little more advanced as a coaching challenge than you'd think to look at them, but they're really a very solid team.

I would go humans for a couple of reasons: they have all the basic skills right from the start, the positionals choice is quite good, and are a very nice balanced team.

Amazons are quite strong in short leagues because of the "dodge" skill, but tend to have more difficult games when the other teams start evolving (exeption made to Dwarfs that are a pain to Amazons since game 1).

Thanks for the advice guys.
I think I will take amazons.
I though off the following as a starting list:
3xBlitzer
2xcatcher
1Xthrower
5xlinewomen

4Xreroll
apothecary
2FF

Is this a good starting team?

We are playing an 8 men league , so normally I will have to play 14 games with them.
So far, no dwarfs/chaos dwarfs are chosen.

The key to Zon teams is the blitzers really, I think you need 4 to start with. I think I'd can the thrower in your team and the FF, or the APO and a lino.

Zons are a running team, please don't play them as a passing team (although it should always be an option when you've only a few turns, and if your league is giving the +1 to catches with Diving Catch, then that would make it more reliable). As they develop it is worth getting a thrower for the main reason of getting the ball into your cage quickly, but at the beginning, get the ball to your blitzers so they can score (4 blodgers off the bat is very good...) and get guard first, maybe tackle depending on your league, then MB generally.

Catchers should really get defensive skills-block/wrestle, diving tackle and side-step.

Anyway, have fun. I think you'll find the first half of the season easier than the second, but with some decent stat increases you may well do very well. (Zons v dwarves isn't as bad as you might think-use your extra speed to pull your cage one side to the other and then break through, you should hopefully have enough block/wrestle to be reasonably safe anyway).

Good luck!

Debatable.

Perpetual league, I think it's correct to say Humans.
Short League/tournie, it's Amazons all the way.

At 14 games, with no DWarf/Chaos Dwarf, (info I know you didn't have at the time matt but you made a fairly strong statement without asking for more facts) it's Zons.

As for the line-up, I'd be thinking along the line of Aliboons setup.

Zons all the way
4 Blitzers (you'll be wanting Guard with these)
8 Line (add a Catcher in the mix if you must for the access to Agility skills)
3 RR
1 Apoth

I still say MA7 is huge, and universal Dodge loses value after just 5 or 6 games. If there are no Dwarfy teams, though, the math does get better. If you're gonna do 'Zons, I think you really need 4 Blitzers and 12 players, as MA6 makes it hard to reset quickly. I'd do 4 Blitzers, 1 Thrower, 1 Catcher, 6 Linos and 4 TRRs. Run out and buy an Apoth and a Catcher, and then it's just linos.

Amazons are better in the begining, but AV8 wins in the longrun. Just play a team that you feel will be fun every time you play the game, not just pick a team thats better or worse (if you wan't competion  )

Amazon starting roster:
4 Blitzers
2 Catchers
7 Linewomans
3 Rerolls

Solid team. Get apo first then get a thrower (build thrower with block, accuarte, sure hands, leader, kick-off return)

Build catchers as runners (block, sure hands, sure feet, sprint and hand-off between them)

Get sure hands on one blitzer (so you have a great ballcarrier in the start of the league) and guard on the three others.

Best defence is to make four linewomans wrestle & fend! Make two block and tackle and the last as a kicker/dirty player.

Hope you have som use for my advice and good luck.

Is Dirty Player a good skill to put on your kicker? Noone ever gets Kick more than once.. why risk getting your only kicker sent off for a foul? Perhaps Kick is best put on your sweeper, your non-LoS linewoman with Wrackle.

i would drop a linewoman for either an apoth straight away or an extra reroll.
