What team to choose ?

I have a small leaugue with 3 of my friends.
One plays (always) Undead, the other moved to Dwarves now. The third really got into "humans" (but is still a Dwarf-player at heart).

We dont have a fixed league, we just call each other up and have a go then. We use 5th edition, but still use the old Death Zone Cards for fun (so, no inducements but more cards, and more money at the end).

Last season I've used Orcs. They are nice and all, but this season I want to field something different. I started BB with Skaven but that's also not a team I want to field...

So basically; wich team would you field, and why ? I have acces to most of them (not to Khemri, but I dont like them anyway :) ) or am able to build them.
Should I go with the "bash you-bash-me" approach, or should I try (for instance) Wood Elves ? :o

The idea is that we all reach TR 200 and then play Death-bowl (4 way BB, 1 dirty trick, no apo no ref, just one game) and the season ends there (yes, we have quite long seasons).

Teams I dont want to field:
undead - already in the league
dwarves- same
humans - same
khemri - no models, dont like the team
orcs - done that
chaos - done that
skaven - done that

Any ideas ? And, development for that team ?

Cheers,

JaM

Perhaps its time to come over to the Dark Elves?

Have the Bash to take on the bigger guys - but the AG to run rings round them as well,

Avoid Dodge due to all the games against Dwarves - Side Step on pretty much everyone :P

Dark elves... IS an option I have considered.
High Elves... never thought of them. Why not...?

What's so good about HE that you reccomend them in this league ? Or DE for that matter ? :)

Ogres: a good fun team and if you put the time in with them you will win a good number of games.

Also Vampires are a fun team and when they work they are very hard to stop.

Dark Elves or Amazons would be two easy suggestions. I know, Dwarves in the league, and 'Zons have to play real smart with all that Tackle. But thats just one team, and frankly all of the agility teams are in the same boat against Tackle. My personal choice would likely be Dark Elves, but thats my default choice as it is my favorite team bar-none.

The Darkies have the armor to at least stand up to a little beating, but the agility and mobility to take that beating on their own terms. Since they rely more on their raw AG than Dodge skill, they're more resistant to Tackle's influence. All Elves are together on this, but Darkies have the edge on armor and bashiness.

If you want to try something completely different, and I don't mean Wood Elves, I'd suggest Pro Elves. High Elves have similar bashiness potential as Dark Elves, but trade a runner-based game for a catcher-based game. Either way, you're looking at a bunch of MA8 AV7 players doing the majority of the action on your team. I'd lean towards Dark Elves, where you're putting the burden on the shoulders of MA7 AV8 players instead.

I'd be keen to use Skaven in the above league mix you talk about, but you've already ruled them out. I would expect Skaven to either win big, or take a serious beating, every game. Bank your winnings to rebuild after the beatings, and protect your key players. Thats all no-brainer advice.

I think you'll be happy with Dark Elves in the above mix.

Here's a couple I haven't seen mentioned:
Chaos & Chaos Dwarves - they build up as some of the nastiest bash teams once you get a few skill-ups. All that Mighty Blow and Claw?

Hey, have you considered the Underworld team?

The point is that I will see that Dwarf team a lot before I hit TR 200. So Amazons... nah. I dont think so.

Chaos: I've played them before, lot of fun. I want to try something different...
Chaos Dwarves... could be fun !
Dark Elves: I'm starting to like that idea.

I was considering Nurgle also. Kinda depends on this weekend (DO), hope to have fun with them. If I win even 1 game with them it'll be good ! :puke:

Forgot:

Underworld: I might do that... Chaos Pact appeals as well though. 3 BGs is fun ! :smoking:

Another guy recommending High Elves. Lots of speed and agility, not too dependent on Dodge, not too vulnerable.

I don't care to play them myself, but Chaos Dwarves since they have a slew of good starting skills....

Or Pro Elves. Trade 1 AV on the linos for a skill jump (SS/NOS) and an Apothecary or 3rd TRR.

I would suggest you go for one of the AG4 teams (or at least a team with some starting AG4 players).

Why? Simply because racial variety is the main spice of life in BB.

Hope this helps and good luck.

I think I'll go with High Elves... Why ? I've never played them before, and I should have an unpainted/barely painted team laying around here somewhere.

And indeed, it's something totally different than before.
The AV 8 will certainly help vs the other (bashing-oriented) opponents and their teams.

Thank you all for participating,

cheers ! :D

edit:

seeing that almost everything was packed, I went with pro-Elves instead, using Shadowforge "bunnies" for them. And the guy who I thought would use dwarves went with Underworld, so that worked out fine too.

I really like the AG 4 so far...
