Pro Elf catcher first roll, 6 + 4.

Hello all, I've just rolled the above on a rookie team (only other skills are dodge on a blitzer and a catcher).
What should I get? I'm leaning toward MA9 as I like the speed and whenever I get a AV upgrade on a AV7 player, they tend to get injured anyway...
The MA9 will make one-turners a bit easier (although I've never actually managed to score one, end up getting double POWs on the first dice most the time...) and I like the extra range it would afford.
A normal skill would be good given they are a rookie team and need them, but it seems a waste.
Anything I'm missing?

Av, start heading him towards being a 3rd blitzer.

You should take the MA. With MA 9 and sprint you will be scoring one turners even when you roll double pow on the blitz. Terribly borring but very effective.
Keep him out of harms way by positioning. You got 10 players that can live with being blitzed, put him behind them. If you train him as OTS: sprint, sure feet, leap, dodge in the order you like he should even be in the reserve most of the time - out of harms way...

I wasn't gonna train him specifically as an OTS, would rather take my chances with a few chain-pushes to get the one-turner-less cheesy and I hate sprint as a skill-there is no way I could roll 3 2+s when I needed to, even with a reroll...
He's also be a bit of a TV drain then, only being wheeled out to get the score at the end of halves and to be honest, I think keeping him out of harms way would be a bit difficult. AV 7 with only 12 players at the mo' would make it difficult to keep him protected as my players were carted to the CAS or KO box imo.

Well MA is still the best choice. Just train him the way you like. I wasnt saying you should go the OTS way, but it is a relevant option. With NOS, MA 9 and leap only side step and stand firm can stop you realy. If you wonna play elfs you gotta look for oppotunaties not pits - bring out your inner optimist and all will go well...

I agree, MA it is.

MA, always MA. Just prepare yourself to watch him die when that day comes, but if you're playing pros you have to be prepared...

I'd go MA as well (as you have chosen). Next skill could be leap. This will force your opponent to setup real deep on defence, which means you can gang-up on him. If he moves forward to attack then leap away and get in a position to score.
Once you have +MA and Leap, I'd go for skills that will help your team extract the ball on defence, as he can already score quite easily, so blitzer skills or mobile assist skills. Depends on how you plan to build up your other catchers and blitzers.

+MA, then dodge...
if he survives: then block, then surefeet...

As opposed to: "Live slow, die the moment you step on the pitch. It's the Nurgle Rotter's way!."

Or "Live at medium speed, probably until your team is disbanded. It's the Orc Blitzer way!"
