Monkeybowl Skaven

Started thinking about my skills for the Monkeybowl and it's hard!

First thought looks like this:

Juggernaught - Rat Ogre (20k)
Wrestle - Gutter Runner x 2 (40k)
Kick off return - Thrower (10k)
Nerves of Steel - Thrower (10k) 80
Jump Up - Gutter Runner (20k) 100
Tackle - Blitzer x 2 (40k) 140
Horns - Linerat (20k) 160

What do you reckon?

Last yr I played a couple of Skaven teams which used Big Hand.
But it was cheaper then.

I'd think about Fend on 2 linos instead of Horns on one.

You have plenty of natural Blitzers (Wrestle Runners, Tackle Blitzers & the Rat Ogre) and staying in TZs is a good way of getting all your linerats dead.

But as I'll be there, maybe I shouldn't have said that...

Jugs on the Rat Ogre is a sensible option. Wrestle on the GRs is also a very good shout.

Not too sure about Jump Up on the GR. Horns might be a better option for a GR and not the linerat.

I'd be inclined to take only one tackler. May be worth splashing out on kick or maybe Strip Ball on a GR - a popular staple skaven tactic.

Maybe even consider Break Tackle on bignuts instead of Jugs? Nobody likes to see a Rat Ogre going mental in a dustbin. If you catch my drift?

Hi Alex,

Juggs on the RO makes a lot of sense.

I wouldn't take two Tackles (big investment wasted against half of the races) or two Wrestles (you don't want all your ball carriers falling over). One of each should do fine.

I think NoS and KoR are marginal on the Throwers. Combine that into Extra Arms on one IMO.

I'd have Horns on a Blitzer, not a lino.

Jump Up seems so-so. I'd try to get a skill on all my GRs. Two Heads is awesome for 20K. It might be worth investing 40K in one guy with Block or Strip Ball. Horns and Dauntless are also good picks on a GR for 20K.

See you there! :)
Joe

Wrestle gutter runners aren't ball carriers, they're ball hunters.

And I'm torn on the Tackle issue myself but the my normal alternative (Frenzy) is 40k so maybe switch in a Grab or Dauntless for the 2nd Blitzer.

hey GUYS do you ever find that - and i don't want to offend anyone here because talking bloodbowl is my absolutely favourite thing to do - but do you ever find that you obsess about creatures to the detriment of any real life relationships? i mean, i don't have many friends, and i can deal with that, but now my love for creatures is damaging my relationship with my wonderful girlfriend. actually, its she who is damaging my relationship with creatures. all i really want is to hide in a dark hole with talk bloodbowl and i could be truly happy. but then there she is, insisting i go places with her, sometimes in the night, she even expects me to stop talking bloodbowl and come to bed! its not that i need bloodbowl in my life, its just that i can't see a point to my life without it. normal people just can't seem to understand that
:?:
and suggestions peeps?

No, Joe - clearly, your experience is alien to mine ;)...

Maybe your answer is to get a phone with good (and cheap) web access. Then you can sneakily bob onto TBB, even in the middle of the night!

In terms of going places at night, you have your duty to do, but why not make it more bloodbowl like? Write potential venues - including staying at home on TBB onto some block dice. Roll the dice and (depending on her mood) make it a 1/2 dice, 1 dice etc e.g. on a 1/2 dice two TBB results and you are in the clear! However, 1 TBB and 1 shoe shopping (sorry for stereotyping) and you are in schtuck! Off to New Look with you ;) An alternative could be that you roll a dice to 'dodge' activities. She really likes to go to see bad films (stereotyping again, I know), so you have to roll a high number to get out of it - perhaps 6+ :o However, if it is something she is not too fussed about, then perhaps a 3+ with a reroll will suffice.

Hope these subtle techniques are of help ;)

that doesn't sound like a bad plan.. except i really don't want to do anything except play with creatures and then talk about it.
what i really need is a way of just getting rid of her completely.
or a way to make her realise that nothing she likes to do is as fun as just messing about with little toys and shit. how can i make her love creatures as much as i do?

Fend on a linerat...?

The whole girlfriend/BB issue is very common I'm sure. My gf just views my dicerolling exploits with total bemusement. I think she'd rather i play toys with the lads than be off dogging in the woods or be a member of an Islamic fundamentalist sect...

Maybe you should take up a new hobby? Even better one the missus can share in? Take up a new sport or learn a foreign language together?

:?:

Joemanji - you need a girlfriend/wife who understands that guys need their own time to play BB/go fishing/play BB/play sport/play BB/hang out with the lads/play BB etc. In return, you recognise that she needs her own time to gossip with the girls/go shopping/gossip with the girls/get her hair done/gossip with the girls/do aerobics/gossip with the girls etc.

You are not joined at the hip and forced attempts to pretend that you are will end in misery.

If your girl does not and will not understand that a guy needs his own time in which to pursue his hobby and hang out with like-minded guys then you need to find another girl.

[End of rant by happily married man who plays BB twice a week and runs the league.]
