Star Player Hiring system

In my league we soon realised back in 3ed that if allowed then all coaches would soon have four morg'n'thorgs. So I came up with an auction system that allowed all starplayers to be used.
1. Since stars are unique, they cannot be bought several times or by several teams, ie, there was only ONE Griff on the league.
2. Morg could play in ANY team, since there would only be one morg around.
4. A player which would play for a certain team gave that team's coach right of preference above all other teams' coaches to which the player could not normally play to.
5. Every coach gave me a list of their prefered stars.
6. The auction beggan, starting with the most desired players, followed by the most expensive players left.
This made an interesting mix of races and teams since it made possible for a dark elven team to have the minotaur per example. Every coach wanted Morg so what happened was that he was sold by 250k gold crowns to the humans, since everybody could bid for morg. The vampire was also interesting because the human and undead coaches both tried to buy him. Several other coaches wanted to bid for him too, but the humans and undead had right of preference because those are the teams the vampire normally plays for.
I guess those examples demonstrate how it all worked and it allowed many stars that would normally never play to enter the field for different teams.
Next season I'm going to triple the price of the players. It will make them so expensive that no one will hire them as they might get killed and a 540k gold crown Griff is not something to get easilly bought and will increase your teams team rating so drastically that you will be handicaped for sure. Tell me what you think about it!
