With my Wood Elves

against Dwarves

It actually went quite well.

Got to receive, beat one of his Slayers out of the game on turn 2 (the same player did that against the last dwarf team in the semi final as well, but them with both slayers. har har) And scored.
Then I defended like crazy and although with a little luck, I kept the 0 in the first half.

In the second half however my KO rolls went horribly wrong. I Started with 9 players on the pitch and that number went down to 7 Before I could even move. I was then presented with a dilemma. How to play defense with a 7 elf team against a boxed dwarf ball who has you outnumbered by 4 already.

As a wood elf you should never let your players get surrounded, for if you do it will be your death warrant. Playing a standard defense (not giving your enemy access to your end zone) would mean sticking close to the dwarves, not giving them the space to advance as much as they want while I wait for an opening, seemed like a very bad idea. Dodging gets harder every turn until eventually players start going to the dugout in 'double' digits.

I decided to simply run for it, let the ball get wherever he wants to and hope he makes the mistake of splitting up his forces to badly. That could allow me to pressure the ball enough to force an early(er) score.
Backup plan 2 was to keep one of my 2 potential 1 turn td'ers on the pitch and see if my turn 8 would be good enough.

In the end it worked, I minimalized casualties, got lucky on the ko roll which brought back my best 1 turner (ma10 sprint catcher) and simply scored the 2-1.

The question that i wanted to ask however....
What to do against a bashy team with a secure ball when your outnumbered by 4?
Was running away like the little girls some of my elves are the best course of action? What are the alternatives?
I'd like to know :D

Oh, the spike Prize (fan favorite skill) will most definitely go to the Wardancer who in the last 2 matches killed a troll slayer, seriously wounded another, badly hurt the third and scored a touchdown while doing so :P
Got to love Block Dodge Leap Tackle Mighty Blow Frenzy players

Let them score quickly. :D

Basically, once you are outnumbered to the point where road blocking is detrimental and you can't even come close to marking them otherwise give them an obvious route to score but keep enough pressure on them to have to take the touch down.

Don't make the mistake of making it too simple, otherwise they box on the TD line and spend the rest of the game slapping you silly.

But it's much better that they score in 4 turns instead of 7, for your health and less pushing to HAVE to score in 1 or 2 turns.

I guess there's not much you could do.
Fast scoring teams like WE rely on scoring not bashing, so like Lictor said if you realy cant stop them from getting to your endzone, you'd better let 'em score asap so you get the ball back and get ahead as fast as you can.

Of cousre any experienced 'bashy' coach will know what you're planning, so it will probably stall and bash as much as he can to score in the very last turn.
Lucky you for that one-turner!
:)
Congrats on the win!
Cheers
