Are Slann Blitzers Worth It?

Hello, I've a Slann team of about 200 TV, 4 blitzers, 4 catchers, a Krox and a few linemen. Problem is I don't think it is worth 200TV and that is down to the blitzers.

Their development could be great, blodge, side-stepping guarders, a wrestling strip-baller and a killer with block, MB and PO.

Problem is that they skill up slowly-the catchers do most of the scoring and none of their starting skills help with causing CASs and they are expensive-110k each for an AG3, blockless player.

MA7, DT and JU are all good in certain situations, but I just don't think they warrant their 110k price.

Has anyone got a really developed Slaan team where the blitzers come into their own, or have you more experiences coaches out there found that the linos do the same job for a lot less?

Well, I wouldn't be caught in a fishing net playing Slann... but I'll try an unbiased analysis:

Lineman, Slann 6338 Leap, Very Long Legs
Blitzer, Slann 7338 Diving Tackle, Jump Up, Leap, Very Long Legs
So you're paying 50k for JU, DT & +1MA

If THAT were your regular, hoped for, progression for a lineman... then it's a bargain.... The skillups would cost 70k through spp acquirement.... If that's NOT your aim... then you might be right about getting the liners to do the job....

+50k for, essentially, a 3rd skill-upped lineman....

Hmmmmm....

They are not worth it. I would only hire them if you can afford to invest in them for having long term potential. While they wont reach this for quite some time and alot of them die they're probably pretty excellent when you finally get them there.

The problem with describing them as a bargin pre-skilled lineman is that they dont have the skills that you would choose if you had the choice. While +Ma, JU, & DT are worth 70k in theory... in practice I would rather have a block/guard or wrestle/stripball player and thats only worth 40k.

Short answer: No.

Not worth 110k, but you need 1-2.

I have 1 and have been happy with 1 (Wrestle/Guard/-AV). If he dies though, I won't buy a new one & will instead rely on linemen/catchers who roll doubles for guard access.

I personally find the ST access makes them worth it. Being able to easily add some Guard and Mighty Blow for the team makes their cost worth it for me.

They have got GAS access too, which has gotta be worth something and I haven't yet rolled a double with a catcher, so no extra guard there.

It's MBBL, so there is time to develop them. My team is already sub-optimal, got HMP on a AG+ lino instead of guard (couldn't resist trying it out with all that DC and didn't think i'd get another chance).

So I reckon I'll plug on with this team to try to get some super-blitzers (although I reckon I'll be at 250TV then, if I survive that long).

Next Slann team I'll play without the blitzers to see if my win rate improves. Although I reckon Slann probbaly get less benefit out of inducements than other teams, their Star Players aren't the best as far as I remember.

As Galak and Aliboon point out... not only are you getting a 20k break on a reasonable set of skills, but GAS access is a great premium and makes them verrrry versatile....

That gets a "flipper" up from me....

I have only played against them, but would say, start with one and skill him up, don't let the catchers make all the points.

Now of course I only play in the MBBL so its potential for continously building is good, don't know what league you play in. I play for team buildig rather than winning, so ignore most of my advice.

I too play in the MBBL, just under Alster rather than Aliboon (forgot my password here for Alster, so re-registered...)

Well in that case.

Well in that case if you have a free team slot open (not likely, if your like me.) then create a new Slann team which you don't plan on winning with and just do team building to see how good they can get (granted winning normally comes with trying to gain SPPs).

What I mean is don't worry as much about winning as spreading the SPP wealth around.

I play HEs and trying to just get a nice roster of players put me at 150 TV without having skills. Sad really.

But after one gets the players they want, then its just sit on that TV and try to skill up.

I have done this and as my game has improved it looks like I might be in the finals without me trying. My other two main played teams this season has been Khemri just to give test data.
