Double 5's on (Norse) Ulfwerener...
So, my ulfwerener (6/4/2/8;Frenzy) has achieved his first level after 2 casualties and an MVP in a single game against Vampires.
Ordinarily, I would immediately choose Block, as he has pulled off a few of the old "Guess which is the only player on my team without block?" plays. However, I rolled a double five, giving me an unprecedented array of scary options.
+1 MV to help him frenzy into more people?
+1 AV to help him survive when he does roll double-down results or when vengeful orcs come after him?
A double skill, maybe Dodge (2 AGI is the obvious counterpoint here, but...) or Jump Up or something?
Or, in the name of safety, throw all that away and just take Block anyway...
I assume he will level again sometime in the semi-near future, but sitting at 9 SPP he'd have to casualty 3 players and/or somehow be shoved into the endzone to get another level in immediately. I kind of want him to have block as soon as possible, but I'm thinking it's not worth sacrificing some of those options... Who knows.
I'm leaning towards the +AV at the moment, but I thought I'd see if anyone has any input.

Tough choice, I agree.
While I'd be tempted to say just take Block, having +1MA would help immensely as well. A S4 player with MA7 is pretty damn scary.
Alternately, Dodge would be useful since it allows for semi-reliable dodges and keeps him on his feet. And if he later gets Break Tackle, all the better.
AV would be a better choice for Linemen or Berzerkers in my opinion.
Weighing it all up, I'd take +1MA. Just make sure you get Block next, and quickly. If you get a touchback give the ball to him!

so he's on 9 Spps already (if my maths is correct, Im that old I work in imperial not metricMcTavish wrote:So, my ulfwerener (6/4/2/8;Frenzy) has achieved his first level after 2 casualties and an MVP in a single game against Vampires.

Id maybe go for jump up (3+ to block) as he's already only 1 or 2 games away from his next upgrade (Block, unless D6)
Most of the time he should get 2 dice, especially if youve got some guard on the team, it keeps the pitch narrow even if he's prone....
I should point out I dont play Norse, having only just aquired the team...

Consider Sidestep.
Consider the fun you could have using it to position yourself to send opponents crowd surfing with Frenzy.
Also consider how it will protect you from crowd surfing yourself.
Dodge and either +1 are equally valid choices though.

Side-step or dodge if you want to use the double, 4+ rerolled dodge is ok and it will provide knockdown protection and you'll probably want BT later. Side-step to set up/protect from crowd pushes.
Otherwise boring old block, won't go wrong with that.
+AV or MA are ok, but +AV is better later on when you already have the basics. He's not a ball carrier, so MA doesn't help as much as it could, better than AV though.

Ulf + Side Step = terror on the corner or backing the line.

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.
