HI all. Next season preparing some news, i'll probably take some elves teams as skaven are all reserved (not anymore!!!"). I'll take some hasselfree mini. Yes first time with playing ladies may change my opinion on elves and PRO or wood one look like too light to survive.

We have a 1M roster allowed and I have absolutly no idea of what to take.

Wich roster is the best balanced to survive the WAR?

Should I take all the blitzers as the lutece is a very bashy spirit league?

Should I take as may positionnal as I can (1 thrower at least) because freebooter can fill the holes of the first round ?

I'll take some hasselfree mini but someone (no remenber who) told me they are quite little. Any opinion?

Which one has the best starplayer ?

Feel free to give as plenty opinion as I am a rookie player (And I sadly think i always be......................................)

I'm not a big Elf coach but from my experience I found the H.Elves more efficent and more fun to play, especially in bash heavy league.

Take a thrower, 2 blitz, linemen 1 lion and 3 RR (not sure about that, been a while)

Everybody gets dodge as a first skill except a kick lineman an run circles around them ...

D Elves are tier 1 1/2 - 2 and are harder to play (for me at least).

Dark elves are definately bashier. They have 2 more blitzers and witch elves are more bash oriented then the faster Lion Warriors. High Elves are faster due to their 4 MA 8 catchers and come with a good thrower for the passing game. Dark Elves have no thrower and no Catchers.

Personally I feel both teams are very different, dark elves can go toe to toe with bashy teams more easily (if you develop them well). Dark elves always need to adapt to the opponent as they don't really excell at any playstyle: they miss the pure speed and skills for high scoring games and no access to strength skills puts them at a disadvantage in bashing.
High elves score easier, have a better passing game but need to be a bit more carefull when facing bashing teams. They can consistently play the same style though.

Personally, I prefer DE.

I prefer D.Elves, but have zero luck with them.... I pulled off a great play last night.... I had 2 players standing a 12 Dwarves (due to a card) were stomping me with only 2 turns left for me.

I went for a one dice blitz and managed to pop the ball loose and stun his runner. I stood up a potential receiver and moved him to extreme pass range which meant that the Dwarf Coach may be able to get a tackle zone on him next turn but that would be all.

I stood up some line elves to tie up other players and then used my AG5 Runner to stand up, make 3 dodges, pick up the ball and long bomb it to the receiver...

achieved all this and the final turn opened as planned with my receiver holding the ball 5 sqaures from a TD with only a runner placing a tackle zone on me...

2+ required.... no rerolls remaining

no such luck...

the quote in my sig says it all.

Agreed with Tuern

And to build on what he said, I like to start with 4 blizters, 7 linemen 2rr, or 3 blitzers, 8 linos and 3rrs.

I love the DEs. Start the roster with 4 blitzers and a runner. Bild all linemen with wrestle and then some with leap (I think il get 3 - got 2 atm). This combines the staying power of AV 8 block/wrestle with the breaking power of AG 4 leap, wrestle. Im giving the blitzers dodge first, then tackle, dauntless, side step, diving tackle in some order. My record is 8-3 and it could have bin even better. Since I have had some bad luck.

I was also the unlucky lucky dwarfcoach in voyagers game. Lots of crasy stuff happened in that game. I had some good dice making the win almost sure and the greed got to me, making me take a small chance to get an extra td. since I dint believe in the 5+, 2+, 2+, 2+, 4+, 2+ seqence, with no RR. You left out a couple of detail voyager - for one I had a bomb to throw at the potential scorer. 3+, 4+, with a small extra chance on an inaccurate pass.

High Elves are great. You can bomb with authority. Do one thing, do it well. MA8 Catchers mean that takeaways almost always become TDs (not just with the Catchers, either; MA8 means a great range for handoffs), and a rookie Thrower can chuck Short passes into coverage without any regard for consequences, something you wouldn't want to do with just about any other rookie Thrower in BB.

Dark Elves are a little more advanced. They have the same issues as Humans: an on-paper solid team that has to adapt to its opposition in order to claim an effective niche. They're pretty solid, but they're not fast and they're not heavy, and sometimes the combo sucks.

With High Elves, there's no one right roster. This season I started a Thrower, two Blitzers, eight Linemen and 5 RRs, figuring I wanted to skill as many players as possible before my Catchers steal the show. Against admittedly mediocre opposition (rookie coach [his 6th game?] and a veteran who got a couple bad breaks) the team is 2-0 with 9 TDs (allowed 1... against the rookie), 14 completions, an Int, a neutral Cas ratio, TV 1.26M, and 8 Star Player rolls... and still can't afford a Catcher.

I prefer dark elves and have always been fairly successful with them. To me, high elves have always look like dark elves with all the good bits taken out.

Maybe it's just a matter of play style. I prefer to have some hitting options, but if you prefer a more finesse-oriented passing game (it doesn't sound as if you do), I guess the HEs could be a better fit for you.

I just want to "resist the bashy". After that i'd like to :
win
keep some players alive
have fun
get casualties

Oops. 3RRs. I must have a King Arthur complex.

Personally I'd go for Dark Elves, but thats just my taste as I favour running teams with a slight aerial threat.

One way to decide is to pick the models you like the best, no point playing a team if you don't like the toys your using!

I agree. I think the models really matter. IMO, in GW models, the Pro Elves are the runaway best, with the Dark Elves a distant second.
