Should this team buy more players? Or stay lean?

Hi Everyone,

Just played Skaven in a progressive league for the spike magazine trophy, which I won. I'm not really familiar with teams at higher levels of team rating, so I find myself with a few options on how to develop this team and Im not really sure what is best.

To begin with, here is the team:

Blitzer - +AGI
Blitzer - guard
Runner - Block, +MV, Sidestep
Runner - Wrestle, Dauntless, Tackle
Runner - Block, +MV, Sidestep, Shadowing, Fan Favorite
Thrower - Accurate
Rat Ogre - Break Tackle
Linerat - Tackle
4x Linerat - N/A
4x RRs (Including Trophy)
8x FF
1x AC, 1x CL
Apothecary
260k cash banked

I think the total TR is around 165.

I've been purposefully keeping my TR as lean as possible, which helped me get a wizard in the grand final of the cup. However with that league out of the way, the next step appears to be to buy the 4th runner to start skilling him, a secondary thrower, and possibly another linerat, and start getting some redundancy in the position players. However all that is over another 20pts of TR, bringing me straight into spiralling expenses. Then once I start skilling them, I could easily be over 200TR very quickly

Alternatively, I really like the team that I've got at the moment. I could just keep rolling with 12 players and accumulating cash (hopefully) however any injuries on the positionals at this point could be fairly damaging.

So, do I take the plunge and buy up some players? Or not?

Do you find you need more players as a game progresses or are you able to do well with the numbers you have on the field?

My last few games I've kept practically the whole team fielded most of the time. However skaven can't really afford to assume this will continue.

You just answered your own question then :D

It is a squishy team, you need replacements. Even if you have a Blodge St4 GR he is still AV7.

Hell, your BG is only AV 8.

The best way to trim to TV is just simply to remove players who aren't skilled right. It's not about minimising bench depth (for squishy teams anyway) and you know how many RR's you need according to your playstyle/skill choices.

So develop your players and if you feel a rat isn't optimised or injured to a point where he is a risk instead of an asset, replace him.

What else are you going to do? Reject Stat Increases and Doubles? :P
