Rookie Orc Team Vs 2nd Season Norse

Post by massacre »

Hi guys, i have got a new Orc team :

3 x BoB
4 x Blitzers
1 x Ogre
1 x Thrower
2 x Gobos

(Not 100% of FF and RR  )

i am playing a Norse team that have made it through a tough time and they have some skills behind them now.

What do you think my best way will be to go forward? should i try to slap them around in the first half (there are a lot of people with block on the other side!) or should i try to get TD`s ??

Any ideas are welcome.

Thanks!

If you start reciving:
Don't go for as many TD's as possible, instead try to keep the ball and protect it with "da cage". Make sure he don't get the ball and in the end of the half score a TD so it's 1-0 in the end of first half.

In second half try to stop him from scoring but keep in mind that he needs to scores so theres enough turns for you left to score the final TD, and win 2-1

If you start kickoff:
Boot and smack his players in first half (maybe he will get a TD) so that he doesn't have enough players to defence. Then you can score in second half and maybe win 2-1

For the FF and TRR:
Buy two TRR and 5 FF

Cool, do that!
It worked for me and played a orc team up to 381 TR in the old rules.

I know he has block, but you will get him down. So bash. You will break that 7 AV. He probably won't break your 9 AV too many times, so you've got an advantage. I actually don't mind kicking if I win the toss. If he scores relatively quickly, then I can go for the tie before half, and then play keep away and score late in the second half for the win. Norse will probably hurt themselves banging into the cage, and believe me, 7 AV won't last long!

As a (semi) successful Norse coach here's my suggestions.

Make sure you look at his roster first - get rid of any players with Mighty Blow or Piling On (especially Bitzers).

Foul the hell out of Dirty Players.

Mark catchers, they're not that good (as catchers I mean). Remember all his players are/started at ST3 so gang up.

You can be pretty sure to break his AV than the other way round so always try to get 2dice blocks to ignore the "both down" result.

If you get good handicap results use them to your advantage (I've got no specific advise on this one as I was always giving them o my oppo. )

Most importantly, have fun. If you lose look on it as a learning experiance; anyway it's expected. If you win be gracious and onlyjump around when you are away from your opponent. :D

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

WOO HOO just managed a 2-0 which soo should have been 1-1

**********
Well last night the Green Skins meet the Bezerkers in their opening game
of the NBBL. It was a tight game, with a lot of casualties (5 Green
skins missing the rest of the match! :o ) and quite a few KO`d Bezerkers  .

The Green Skins took the lead for 1-0 at half time, then it was time for
the Bezerkers to receive, however, because they were so intent on
slapping my orcs around (2 blitzers, two BoB and a gobo badly hurt!) in
that half that they left their ball carrier sitting in his own half
(Doh!) so what was left of the green skin tide rushed this poor Norse
linemen, needless to say what the out come was  and the green skins
drove home a very lucky second touchdown in the last turn. (The Minotaur
failed the sprint to crush my open thrower who was the only guy in
range)

oooops! Sorry about that...

I just didn't have my rulebook with me, and I never played norse or against a norse team who uses mino's.
