Doubles on an ORC in a TRR 115 Tournament

Post by DeeTee »

Hi folks,

I'm off to a Tourney in September - TRR 115 - 6 skills: 2 of which are doubles.

I'm finding it difficult to pick the doubles - nothing leaps out quite like it does for some of the speedier, agile teams.

I was considering Dodge for 2 of my Blitzers. I'm not looking at throwing skills for my Thrower as I intend giving him Block as some ball-carrying protection.

Any ideas or thoughts will be very gratefully appreciated.

Cheers

Danny

I don't think you can go wrong with blodging blitzers... unless you put block on a Troll (if used)....

Leader on the thrower is a suggestion (non-doubles... scoop up kick and hand off quickly)....

One Sidestep Blitzer to man one WZ and protect a Frenzy Blitzer: the opponent can't go his way, so he's always on the backside of plays, where he can put his Sidestep on the ball: on offense, he manages the cage front. Then get either Dodge on the Blitzer who mans the other WZ, or Block on your Troll. Whichever guy (corner or Troll) doesn't get doubles should get Guard or Stand Firm.

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

Very few good doubles picks for Orcs in tournies.

Block on the Troll is the obvious one but for the 2nd it's tricky.

I had the same rule set when I played Orcs (TV110) and I ignored the 2nd double and just took 5 normal skills.

4 Guard BOBs, Block Troll and a Block Thrower.

And I'd advise against Side Step and Dodge.

Side Step is just not that good as a single skill on a non-frenzy player and it's very easy to negate a solo Dodge player, especially one who won't be dodging that much.
