Chaos Dwarfs - 6th Dwarf
Hi guys,
After winning the first 2 seasons of our perpetual league with my Dark Elves, I decided on a change of pace and entered a Chaos Dwarf team for the current 3rd season.
I've managed to win my first 2 games, against rookie Undead and 160 TV Orcs and my roster looks like this:
2 Bull Centaurs (1 with Block)
5 Chaos Dwarfs (1 with Guard)
5 Hobgoblins (1 MNG with a Niggle)
3 Rerolls & Apothecary
The rest of the league consists of developed (TV 150-160) Skaven, Orcs + Humans and rookie Undead + Norse.
Anyway, my question is: how worthwhile is it to pick up the 6th possible Dwarf? I plan on using the Minotaur, which would already take me to 13 players. I think 14 would be the right number for me to balance practicality with cost, but I'm not sure whether to pick up another Hobgoblin instead to keep more mobility if the rest of them get pummelled and allow more leniency in fouling without having to use a more valuable Dwarf if sent off.
Let me know what you reckon or what your past experiences are.
Cheers.

I played very successfully with only 4 Chaos Dwarves (plus 1 Mino, 2 Bulls and 6 Hobos). It very much depends on your style of playing but I relied entirely on the Bulls and Hobos, using the Dwarves only as assistance. I think a Chaos Dwarf team without Hobos has much more problems than a team without Chaos Dwarves. High AV is nice, but no option to pick up the ball is a desaster. Although my Hobos never got beaten up, and that helped a lot, I guess. But even if they get beaten up you really need substitutes for them, so my choice would always be the Hobo. Seems more important to me. (No reason to play Khemri without playing Khemri.)

I like to have 6 Chaos Dwarves especially on offence and Defense against other bashy teams. But i run without a minotaur since i think they are TV bloats and not worth their cost. (Basically you are giving away a wizard to your opponent). I also thikn that 14 players is a good number for almost every team and having a few more backup hobbos is quite nice either for some extra fouling or when the other hobbos get beaten up.

I start my chaos dwarf league teams with 6 dwarfs 1 bull 4 rr 4 hobbos
the dwarfs skill up the slowest so I start with all 6 and they are great value for money imo
Of course as mentioned you can play with less, Ive just got a Mino after game 4 (I've won all 4). will save now for the second centaur (also replaced a hobbo that was killed in game 1 finally last game)
having a deep roster with chaos dwarfs is viable though as you have fairly cheap players apart from the bulls and mino
it also gives some fouling leeway as well
there is no right way but my preference is for the max number of dwarves

Even if you field only 5 Dwarfs... when you're doing it right, they take some hits, so you'll want a reserve Dwarf.

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.
