normal skills for dark elf blitzer

Here's the team.

Witch. Block
blitzer. Normal
Blitzer. Normal
Lino. Normal
7 lino.

2 re rolls.

100k banked.

I'm playing as an underdog in a very bash heavy league...I'm probably going to average 500k inducements.

I was going to pick the obligatory dodge, to give my team a bit more mobility, but the prospect of 2 sidesteppers is pretty attractive.

What are your thoughts? Mobility and survivability, or field position?

I'm fairly certain the lino will just take kick.

Dodge on both given the league is bash heavy I guess the priority to get tackle yourself is lowered

skills that save your rerolls are great for dark elf teams

I just started a Dark Elf team, and the Blitzers are pretty fast to skill up. I'd go Dodge then Side Step on at least two of them.

Dodge works very well as a stand-alone skill, while Side Step works a lot better once you already have Dodge (and Block). So I'd go Dodge first.

+1.

If it's bash-heavy, remember to build a couple of wrestle, tackle, strip ball players to serve a safeties against anything in the backfield.

That too. But not these particular players. Kick on the Lino is a no-brainer in a bashy format, if nobody else has said so already. Side Step is a good alternative to Dodge on either or both Blitzers (each lets you invert one side of your Ziggurat :P ), but if you're facing bash early Dodge is king, as frequently ST4 blitzes against your safeties are possible, and 3d Mighty Blow hits on inverted corners can be deadly if you don't have Dodge. Conversely, if you face a lot of Agility, take one Side Stepper, and get Side Step in lieu of Kick on a lino, so you can invert half your backfield, put the SS lino on the inverted end of the line, and force the action to one side of the field. Give the other guy Dodge, so he can man the corner or midfield spot on the Zig side (see diagram).

Code: Select all

D=Blitzer with Dodge, S= Blitzer with SS, s= Lino with SS, in Agility-heavy format
- - - -|- - x x s - -|- - - -
- - - -|- - - - - - -|- - - -
- - x -|- D - - - - x|- - S -
- x - -|x - - - - x -|- x - -

dodge would be my choice first normally as well.

But if you're joining a developed league there might already be a lot of Tackle around. If so SS might be the way to go.

Still think I would go Dodge though

There's only 3 dwarven teams out of 13. With no other teams starting with tackle, and the fact that I'm only the 3rd finesse team, I'm hoping tackle will be limited.

good advice.

Dodge, Sidestep, Tackle would be my preferred order. However, I give Wrestle as first normal skill to the Witch Elves, so can delay giving Tackle to the team. DE Blitzers do skill up quickly in my experience too.

Dodge, Sidestep, Leap, Tackle, Dauntless... all good choices.

I start with Dodge, add some side step and leap, and finish off with Dauntless and Tackle, unless I'm not in a bashy league.

As for doubles, I like Mighty Blow, but guard is also nice.

I've found that Guard is a commitment issue.
You have to decide that all doubles on linos will be guard or it's likely wasted.
I have got two linos with Guard and I've been sticking to Mighty Blow on the Blitzers and that seems to work pretty well.

That's what I do as well, worked great for me.
