The wonderful names of players that get killed...

On the weekend I played against a sporting young lad with his High Elf team (The Elven All-Star Rejects), including a ST4 Lineman. The said Lineman took a swing at his Dark Elf counterpart on the line of scrimmage, rolled a double both down, re-rolled it, got another double both down, and, erm, died... But better than all of that was the name of the hapless Lineman: Joe Deathwish.
In the same vein, last night I played against The Khornivore Bloodskullers (sorry, no prizes for guessing which race). In their lineup was a hopeful young Beastman by the name of Wesley the Undefeatable II. True to form, he was forcibly retired during the match, and has now been re-hired as, yes, you guessed it, Wesley the Undefeatable III.
All the best.

I remember a friends chaos dwarf team with a minotaur team captain.
The minotaur was Minos, and the team was Minos' Men.
Minos died in his first game.
The following season, same coach started a new team, same concept.
Minos died again - first match.
From then on they were Minos' Men Minus Minos

We oughtta put up a "Cleat Hill" sticky to announce player deaths and retirement. Maybe in the "blogs" section.
RIP Don Serle-Light, of the New Albion Expatriates, by the way. Long live Manny Festestiny!
I guess Donnie was out of his element.

On my human team Spartak Starograd, I have a lineman called "Invincible" Ivor Czatek. He is also the fist model on the team I painted, having the coolest miniature. Recipe for disaster; he gets injured a lot, and has yet to skill up.

I've also noticed, in those years of GW's games, that usually those players who get stupid names lives longer...

Guy in my league ran a Skaven team, named his big-guy marker "Rat Slater." I don't know if he thought he would piss me off or what, but it was kind of funny. In one 12-game season he got a niggle, -AV, and then finally dead.
Had another coach name replacement players off the coaches who killed their predecessors. A guy named Darryl killed one of his guys, so he named a player Duck U Farryl, and when I got one the next game, he named the following player Muck U Fatt.

I had/have a Chaos Pact team by the name of Little Jimmy and the Johnsons. They have played just one match, during which Little Jimmy, the team's captain and goblin, died making a 2 dice against block on a ghoul ball carrier after being hurled over the defensive line by the ogre.
Although really making the goblin the captain I was asking for it.

I was playing against a friend of mine, who hired a thrall for his team right before the match..naming him Matthew J. (That's me

)
I was playing necromantic, killed his player and.....yep you guessed it!!......resurrected him as a zombie on my team.
It's very odd having a player named after me, that I didn't even hire....

I think every goblin coach has named a player 'Beefcake' at least once. My Beefcake became a bit of a celebrity, known for taking chances on bad blocks and coming out alive (sometimes even on top), but he didn't make any XP aside from an MVP until the first game of his second season, when he intercepted a pass (the only interception in the history of the team) and ran it in for a TD, then was unceremoniously punched to death in the second half. I've "resurrected" him as Zombeefcake and he's now indispensable, being the only gobbo on the team with Guard.
