I have been recently playing a lot of BB online playing humans at 1700 team value
And recently one of my blitzer has been injured -1 strength to 2 and, I was just wondering whether or not it would just be better to retire him as he has only got one skill at present.
As well is there an advantage of only having a minimal amount of players on the team sheet to keep your team value DOWN.

No hesitation - he's got to go.

-ST is a firing offence for the vast majority of players. The number of skills isn't really an issue there as a -ST so severely impairs a player's ability to contribute to the team. Especially with a blitzer on a human team as you can only get 4 and they're the most important players for the team. I could think of an AG5 pro elven thrower with a few skills being kept in a team with -ST or a treeman if you can't afford a replacement and are facing an agility team next but that's about it.
Even if the player had +ST he's still got to go as he costs more TV than he's worth.
The length of the league would affect this, but since you're playing in an open ended league he's got to go.
