Starting build
4 Vampires
6 RR's
Apoth
9 FF
Yes, only 4 players start on your team.
Concede your first match. (you're playing vampires so you shouldnt have a major aversion to losing anyway)
Now, during your post game sequence, you hire 7 journeymen thralls. So, for game two you've got a full team roster with 4 Vampires! Utilise your vampires for not only hits but ALL ball carrying and try to mitigate your thrall usage so no rerolls have to be chanced on these "Loners".
Any cash you get from here on out is to simply get your thrall compliment up to where it needs to be. You start the league with 4 Vamps (which some consider the ideal number of vamps for a team), an apoth, max FF, and a beefy 6 RR's.
Heck, using this strategy, you might go ahead and spend money only on Vamps and get up to 6 on your team....leaving the journeymen thralls and only playing on the pitch with vamps. (basically only doing "sure-fire" things with the loners).
Now, I know what people are going to say. "6 RR's are pretty useless when your team consists of all loners".
...thing is, your team wont be all loners for long. Got a journeyman thrall that got a TD AND got the MVP? PURCHASE HIM in post game. Not only are you purchasing a thrall at ROOKIE COST, but now he's also got a skill on him. Oh yea, and you wind up NOT wasting cash on the thralls that DIE or get INJURED. Everytime you pad your team with free thralls you dont have to worry about ones that "miss next game" or are "killed". How's that for square?
I think this idea could work, and I'm working on a vampire team right now. When I begin play with them next season at my store I may try this "loophole" out.
How's this for a Vampire idea for league play?

Doubt it'll be that successful. You'll be players down after a few turns.
Also I think there might be a rule saying you must start with 11 players...

Whoops, you're absolutely right.
min players 11 to start team...and here I thought I was being all clever and stuff.
Oh well, back to 6RR's and 11 thralls for the first game.

I'm not trying to be snarky or anything (yes I am), but I'm thinking you might benefit from more playing with Vampires, and less trying to be "clever".
