I'm planning on taking a Skaven team to the GT in May.
I don't have a huge amount of experience with them (only 25 games under LRB4) so am looking for some tips to give me a shot at bettering the 3/1/2 results I had the last 2 years.
I'm also hoping to win best painted after being nominated twice before so the Rat Ogre is a must (even though i think they are overpriced rubbish) as i have a cool conversion planned for him. I intend to paint up a warpstone troll and some goblins to make them underworld at the WIL Star Bowl in August as well.
So far I have:
Rat Ogre = 150
2 Storm Vermin = 180
1 Thrower = 70
2 Gutter Runners = 160
5 Linemen = 250
2 Re-rolls = 120
Total = 930
This leaves 70K to play with, i could buy a lineman for a 12th player, a 3rd re-roll, an apoth or ugrade 2 linerats to gutters.
For skills i was thinking, Leader on the thrower, block on both gutters, guard on the Stormvermin. Maybe guard or juggernaut on the RO, block, kick or dp on linerat or tackle on a vermin.
Any other viable skill choices?

don't have to have the rat ogre on the roster to show him for best painted
give you more money to play with

Re: 1000 TV Skaven
I took skaven last year and went with:
Rat Ogre,
Blitzer,
4 Gutter Runners,
6 Linemen,
2 Re-rolls,
FF 1
and i found it to work quite well (nick who won the GT also took the same roster). Although in hindsight I would probably have swapped a gutter runner and the FF for another blitzer. Or since the rat ogre has decreased in price you could use the savings and the FF to upgrade a lineman to a thrower for leader access and sure hands. Also in LRB6 the apothecary could be better than the 12th man.
I think the rat ogre is brilliant and becomes even better at TV100, as most teams have to drop reserves and re-rolls at lower TV where his mighty blow and prehensile tail can cause major issues. Although if you take him I think juggernaut is an must to get the most out of him.

I think it's just a shame that you there is no doubles skill access, you need a Claw linerat...

Doubles would surely be Block on the RO.PubBowler wrote:I think it's just a shame that you there is no doubles skill access, you need a Claw linerat...
Claw without MB and even Block is not great at all IMO.

The Skaven coach in my league swears by his Claw linerat, even though the guy has got himself no casualties in 6 games with the skill. The other day, a few of us were playing Magic, and somebody compared an ill-chosen card to "Claw on a Linerat."
