another CD development question, cutting a Hobbo

Post by Punk_in_Drublic »

Hello.

This is my team as it currently stands : http://bloodbowl.krokodille.com/team.php?id=201&tid=

I'm wondering about Beecher, the hobgoblin. He's had an armour break, but is still valuable to have on the bench with his block skill IMO (in case of a lot of casualties inflicted on me). I'm worried about him getting more SPP's though.

Should I cut him? Right now i have 130 GP's, and I'm saving up for a minotaur. Thing is that I've had a lucky str boost on one of the cows, and I would love to play around with two str 5 players. I'm thinking that I'll buy the minotaur after the next game, and then save up for another gobbo (which will join the remaining Hobbos in getting wrestle as their first skill)

Thanks for reading!

I'd cut him. You have 2 spares anyway and the difference between AV6 and AV7 is pretty big. You have enough Block on the team to not miss the skill.

Yeah, me too. Unless a Hobgoblin has something really awesome, any stat loss (not a niggle, but anything else) gets him cut in my book.

Would you also cut a hobgoblin with +MV, wrestle and tackle that lost one point of AV

I think that would fall under the category "awesome". He's a great defensive player. I think I'd keep him until he was really hurt, though the wrestle will probably save his skin on some occations.

No, I'd keep him.

You've got a blocker with 8 armor that you might want to replace, too. I'd probably keep one that had 2 or 3 skills, but he only has one so it's probably a good idea to replace him as soon as you can. With 8 armor, he's probably going to get knocked out of the game a lot. I can understand keeping him until you got a minotaur, but after you get the minotaur, replace the blocker. I wouldn't bother replacing the hobgoblin at all. Five should be plenty when you have a minotaur.

/Whine/ But moooooom! They skill up so swooowly!!!!

Yeay, *sight*, I know. But still, with AV 8 and thick skull, he'll be in it for a while still. If I can't get another double with the Dwarves that I've got (for my second claw/MB dwarf), I'll get another shot at it if I replace him. For now, my team is so young that I have to keep him for a while, me thinks.

If that dwarf gets the MVP, then you'll have too many SPP's on him to replace him. Then you'll be stuck with an AV 8 dwarf that'll keep getting knocked out or injured in your games. I have a chaos dwarf team, so I know how horrificly slow it is to skill them up, but I think it's best to get rid of that one as soon as you get your minotaur before it's too late.

I've got a dwarf blocker on my regular dwarf team that got a -MA injury. He was (and still is) the only blocker with guard. That, plus the fact that I didn't have enough money (I rolled a 1 for winnings in my first game), meant I had to keep him. Of course, he got MVP 2 more times (that's three times out of nine games) and now he got a new skill, a double no less. So, now I've got this gimp dwarf that's too good to get rid of. I'm just glad it's -MA and not something worse, like, you know, -AV.
