Im currently stripping and painting these chaps up for a weekend away in Hartlepool, so im wondering what people think of my team/skill! ANy advice would be great:
2 x Blitzer – 200k – Tackle (20k)
4 x Catchers – 360k Dodge, Diving Tackle (60k)
4 x Linemen – 280k – Wrestle, Wrestle (40k)
2 x Thrower – 180k – Leader, Accurate (60k)
2 x Re-roll – 100k
Total – 1120k (Skills 180k)
EDIT: Rulepack can be found here:
Monkeybowl V Rules
No more than two of each skill/stat increase. No player can have more than 1 skill. Skills are priced according to their use.
So any glaring mistakes ive made? And advice would be great!

Looks good.
Though 11 players plus apothecary would be cheaper than 12 and may allow more flexibililty / even a 3rd RR?
Is wrestle better on the more mobile catchers?
I'd consider splashing 80k on two dodge (blitzers or catchers?) as this is a key skill for any elf team.
Otherwise looks good as I say...

I originally had 2 dodgers in the team, but then changed them. Had a bit of a rethink based on what you said and came up with this:
2 x Blitzers – 200k – Tackle, Dodge (60k)
4 x Catchers – 360k – Dodge, Wrestle, Wrestle (80k)
5 x Linemen – 350k – Diving Tackle, Diving Tackle (40k)
3 x Rerolls – 150k
1 x Apo – 50k
Never ran an apo at a tourney so it will be something new, but allows the third reroll without having to spend cash on Leader. I think this will be what i take!

I'd take dodge on the other blitzer rather than tackle
tackle will be useless in some games and wrestle is just as good as getting a player down if they have blodge, not many players will have dodge without block
not sure about diving tackle either, block or sidestep would be more useful
diving tackle players can just get pushed away or knocked over, especially without even block on them
might swap wrestle on one of the catchers for dodge and give two linemen wrestle instead of diving tackle

Which roster you refering to Grumble? My second one? As i can only take a max of two of any skill, so wouldnt be able to put dodge on both blitzers and a catcher.

Yeah Grum, maximum two of a skill. So no more than two dodge, two wrestle etc.
Also diving tackle is 20k, block is 40k. Tackle is also reasonable value at 20k IMO.
See MB rules on the MB thread if you want to do any further research...

I see, ignore that then. Still would consider something apart from Diving Tackle though. Block or Sidestep
Might get more responses (and helpful) if you outlined the rules in your OP, people aren't going to be inclined to go dig out the tournament rules themselves ;]

I meant copy pasting the skill rules and costs etc into the post, downloading a separate file is just extra hassle. Especially as I'm at work...

Very inspiring rules. Thought about it for 5 minutes, may have missed something obvious...
2x Blitzer
3x Catcher
1x Thrower
5x Lino
Apothecary
3x Re-roll
Fame 1
--------
1.120.000
Dodge on a Blitzer
Sidestep on a Blitzer
Dodge on a Catcher
Sidestep on a Catcher
Wrestle on a Catcher
Wrestle on a Lino
2x Fend on a Lino
--------
180.000
I really wanted to include Block and/or Frenzy but it's just too expensive. Dodge is a no-brainer imo though.
Good luck

I would say dodge on two catchers is a must. Maybe wrestle on the other two. Apothecaries don't work for me, so I would always prefer the extra player.

Dodge on a Blitzer = Blodger
I also prefer the extra player, but you can't have 12 players and 3 RR's. And you lack skills that allow you to re-roll stuff, so 3 RR's is a must-have.

I agree going blodge on a Blitzer is tempting, but it it is the Catchers who are the core of the team and need the protection. Plus it is amazing how often having the dodge skill on the Catchers is important when you haven't got or have already used that TRR.

I'd go two lots of Dodge on Catchers too, I think Jim and I seem to have similar philosophies. Blodge is tempting, but I think getting Catchers out of contact without burning your RRs (3 on such a skill light team as HE is painfully few; especially when you're limited to only two Dodge) is just too important in my view.
I suppose it depends on how you play the team. For me, speed + Dodge is a killer combination on both sides of the ball at this sort of TV.
I'd also try to fit a Tackle in, as it goes. The teams that HE this low are going to struggle against most are your agility merchants, teams with Blodgers and pace. Gutters / Elven Blitzers need to hit the deck early and often, and with any luck, snap. You've not got the firepower to outbash these teams, so you've got to have some sort of way to stop Blodge sitting on the ball for 8 turns and the game slipping away - I guess clever positioning is one string to your bow, I think a Tackler is the second. With any luck though, you'll play nice, slow, bashy teams that you can stretch the field against.
Yes, in some games he's useless, but I always like to have a Tackler knocking around, maybe it's just me.
I like Sidestep on AV8 Elves, but I think if you're going to do the SS route, it needs to be full on. If you want to go that way, take Pro Elves and get up to 4, even though they're lower AV, I think at this TV you want more than 2 for the system to work. I also hate Fend entirely, and don't rate Accurate at all. I think that covers everything! So much of this is personal preference, of course.
Best of British!

How do inducements work in that system? If I'd pick a tier1 team and have starting value 1.1m + 140k for skills, do I get 120k in inducements versus my opponent's ogre team??
