A most lopsided match (Gobbos vs. Vampires)
The worst result I ever suffered was a 6-0 defeat playing Dark Elves way back when (was it 4th or Gold edition?) when the DEs had 2 Minotards with Frenzy+Wild Animal (they had to take their actions before anyone else, had to block, so between them, they caused 9 turnovers before the other 9 players had taken their actions). So I had 7 turns, the other team had 16.
Just this week, I had a match which felt as one-sided as that old classic. My Gobbos vs. well coached Vamps: a 4-0 defeat (had my opponent been in more of a hurry, it would have been 5-0 or 6-0). Now I had my share of Nuffle's blessings (my opponent got 2 Perfect Defences and a Blitz, the Bomber CAS'd himself on turn 1, the Chainsaw inadvertently caught the ball, failed in his first use of the Saw on a roll of 4, and was promptly killed, the Sprint+S-Feet Pogo was CAS'd early, etc.). And my opponent hardly failed a Hypno-Gaze roll all game. The Ball & Chain had a good drive...
But what struck me was the complete nakedness of the Gobbos against the Vamps (my opponent typically fielded 4). The Gobbos could neither move the ball any distance (being Gobbos), nor could they shield the ball against Hypno-Gaze players. The important Sidestep players were taken out of contention. It felt extraordinarily lopsided (and bear in mind I am inoculated for playing with Gobbos - this was their 21st game, and I am used to playing against Vamps with other teams). The highlight was downing a ball-carrying Blodge Vamp with an uphill Blitz by a Wrestle Gobbo - yes, I rolled a double POW (but it didn't help the result).
Anyone else had one of these matches?
All the best.

This thread should just be renamed to "A most lopsided match (gobbos vs. anything)" :p
I dunno how developed the vampire team was, I'm guessing you didn't have much luck injuring those delicious AV7 thralls?

Re: A most lopsided match (Gobbos vs. Vampires)
In a league I was in I received a challenge by Halflings against Dwarves. That went lopsided the other way very quickly [4-0 or 5-0???]. Towards the end I wasn't using MB to generate casualties just so the guy would have a team left.
Oddly the same coach then hammered me WITH GOBBOS vs. Chaos in the next game but remembered the kindness of the prior game and didn't destroy the team as he easily could have. I think he won 3-0 or 4-0 and it wasn't that close
I would try to cage but a stunty would squirt through or a Chainsaw guy would make the 6 he needed to dodge with to take down a STR4 Blodge Chaos Warrior / etc. It was funny that this same Chaos team managed to tie the [then] league leading team. Luck swings in funny ways.

Re: A most lopsided match (Gobbos vs. Vampires)
My Gobbos had a 45% winning record before this game (7 wins, 4 draws, 9 losses). I naively assumed that they would cut the mustard against another supposedly handicapped team. This was not the case. Although the Gobbos had "poor dice", they were never in the hunt. It was a lopsided match-up by nature. The Vamps even had a Wizard, but did not need it. Final CAS count was 4-2 to the Vamps.Porkus_Maximus wrote:This thread should just be renamed to "A most lopsided match (gobbos vs. anything)" :p

Brutal. I don't really know what I would have done..not that it'd have mattered much anyway, as the dice wouldn't have fallen in my favour regardless. On the bright side, he might be overconfident next time and leave himself extra vulnerable to having a vampire become steak. I'm grasping, I know.

Re: A most lopsided match (Gobbos vs. Vampires)
The game in which i felt most cursed was when Da Kikas (gobbos) got beat 5 zip by their most hated adversaries Addax Utd (Wood Elves), suffering three, count 'em, three poxy Blitzs, aswell as my fanatic missing every 66% swing he was asked to make ( he was only on for about 4 turns anyway) and Wetabix the Looney knocked himself out with his first swing of Ol' Rusty.
One of the most entertainly horrific I've seen against me was the Orc team who got four players sent off in four sucessive turns of fouling (first half too) without cracking paperthin gobbo armour.
I know he expected the laughing but in hindsight the pointing and dancing was probably abit much.
Oh yeah and the Human team in which my Gobbo Bomb not only took down the breaking-away-to-score blitzer but killed him.And then nicked the ball. And then got thrown for a spawny touchdown.
Gobbos are the best race in Blood Bowl.

Re: A most lopsided match (Gobbos vs. Vampires)
Here's one I had last night. I thought Underworld (my opponent) and Slann would be amusing given that neither is a top team but both have some interesting things going for them. After my first turn, I realised that I was a bit sleepy to be playing a slightly more challenging team (it was 12:30am-ish when we started), but it turned out that didn't matter. My opponent suffered disaster after disaster and the game quickly became a non-event with me winning 0-5.

From memory:
I received and scored in two turns while his nasty blitzers went to work on my Krox.
We set up again "Blitz!" Two more turns and another score for me.
Err, memory's not working well. I scored three more. His AG4 blitzer got BH on a failed dodge when carrying the ball to a place where I couldn't have hit him due to over committing on rushing the ball deep in his half. I got three re-rolls to help my cause from kick offs. He had numerous shitty rolls on pick ups etc. He did manage three BHs (one a -AV on a blitzer apoth'ed to BH), but given his Troll had MB+Claw as did both his Blitzers iirc, I think I got lucky there, too.
