Necro vs Orcs
Which of these teams would you choose and why?
I am in two minds about each... I am usually Orcs and/or Undead. Necro seem to combine both, fast werewolves and strong flesh golems.
However, how do they play compared to Orcs (I usually end up 4 blitzers, 4 Black orcs...)

Re: Necro vs Orcs
Necro increase the speed of the Undead backs (by adding Wolves to Ghouls, of course), while decreasing the power of the front line (Mummies down to Golems) and dropping Skeletons. Comparing it to Orcs, on the other hand, essentially gets you even slower, weaker linemen and no Throwers at the expense of adding Regen, Wolves and Ghouls to the roster for some great speed.
I'd say that they're far more like, and are intended to be, Undead-with-a-twist than they are like Orcs, but of course Necro appear to be the trendy team at the moment as they're "like Undead but easier/better/faster/got Wovles!". As you have probably discovered, Orcs and Undead are always solid teams, while once you get the hang of using the Wolves, Necro can develop into one of those quite easily.

I don't tend to use the thrower that much to be honest with orcs. Bit too risky. I like having 4 blitzers and 4 ST4 players. With necro I get the blitzers but miss out on the ST.Ulthuan_Express wrote:Necro increase the speed of the Undead backs (by adding Wolves to Ghouls, of course), while decreasing the power of the front line (Mummies down to Golems) and dropping Skeletons. Thing with wolves I can see Frenzy getting them into trouble and Wights are ok. Ghouls are fun but again I can see them being subpar to the wolves.
Zombies are throw away linemen to get in the way as far as I can see.
Maybe i'll just stick with good ole Orcs...

You know, there are an awful lot of ways to play Orcs, and having done them all I can tell you that no one way is the clear right one. Why don't you just change your build and play-style? Take two Throwers, perhaps; even if you don't get too passy (and there's no reason you can't build into an aerial game, so long as you have 3x TRR and a Thrower with Accurate), you can still get a lot of mileage out of all that Sure Hands.
It sounds like you're a stompy Orc type. Do you typically run Goblins? They're a lot of fun, you know.

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

Oh. :p
Werewolves are, alongside Wardancers, probably the best piece in the game - if you can use them right. I'm still trying to get the most out of my Wardancers on the Cyanide game, for instance, and I imagine Werewolves need the same sort of TLC to be utilised and developed correctly.

Werewolves alongside Wardancers.... Ugh, now I feel all icky(er)... and I just came in from a blood bath and post digs party in the graveyard... so you can imagine.... Well, IF the wardancers were freshly raised zombies... I guess that'd be alright....Ulthuan_Express wrote:...Halflings!Digger Goreman wrote:I feel it's the most rewarding, and challenging, team out there...graeme27uk wrote:Which of these teams would you choose and why?
Now, now... I did say "rewarding"....

Theatrics aside..., your basic analysis of Werewolves is accurate.... But you M U S T play them right... a challenge in itself.... I remember a game with the Wizard of Aahz where he successfully baited my Weres into 1/2 die followup blocks.... They stayed on the floor and in the KO most of the game.... I've learned to outfox the fox, now, but I got that lesson the hard way (I think there were "dog-gone" injuries involved, too!).... This is a reason I tend to favor Guard as THE first skill for my Wights... pair them in the wings for blitzes with the Wolves....
