Should Norse Start With a Yeti
I'm about to start playing norse in a fixed schedule league with the rough guideline of playing about a dozen games. Is it worth starting with the yeti straight off the bat or is he too much of a money sink?
I've only played norse in a couple of tourneys, never in a league format before so I'm a little bewildered.
Thanks a bunch.

I tried it before, and wouldn't do it again (TV100). You spend too long babysitting him whilst not having enough players to cope with AV 7 attrition

Norse are a classic spaminator team (ubiquitous block) and thrive in the early stages of a league, while other teams are more of a "have not" proposition.... About 8 games in you'll start slipping on wins as other teams gain skills to cope.... Then your Av7 becomes a bigger liability....
So, concentrate on your strengths and win as many as you can, early on.... Analyze the SNOW TROLL (I don't speak CRaP) in that light....

Get the snow troll after both zerks, ulfs and enough reserves (the ST should be the 14th player). You can prolong your reign with spamming MB/PO and guard, but eventually you will be taken over by the real killerteams (CDs, Dwarves, Orcs.. and amazons surprisinly).

By the way, Snow Troll abbreviates to SnoT. Seems appropriate, as he blows a lot of it.

I like to take him at the beginning but I feel that the general concnsus is to the contrary. My amin reasoning is that he'll skill up quicker and also that I really like him. He really gives Norse an edge against Dwarves and Orc teams.

More money for blitzers and runners at least.

Re: Should Norse Start With a Yeti
The snow troll isn't the best choice for game one. However Norse are pretty good at winning game one, and tend to do pretty well until they get violated by a high AV bash team with a bunch of MB. And THAT game is the one you need the troll to win or survive. And in that game you're going to want the troll to at least have MB, and ideally also block(or failing that Juggernaut).
So I think a good choice could be to suffer through the troll in the early games in order to have them ready for the ones you need them in.
However if you've never played Norse before than you might not have such an ede in the early games, and might not manage the troll so well. So you might do better just hoping you don't face any nasty bash teams after game eight.

I say get the snow troll if you want to have fun.
Don't get it if you want to be competitive and don't like the prospect of having your strongest player lying on his back refusing to get up half the match

I started with one in my team and found him very useful. I've only had 1 game so far (against Lizardmen) but I doubt I would have pulled off a 2-0 win without him.
