Double 5's on Amazon Blitzer

Post by skavenskulls »

Sorry for another lame skill-up question... Did a lot of searching and thinking but I can't find an answer I feel good about for this one.

Pretty standard team currently:
4 blitzers, 2 guard, 1 double 5's
1 thrower
6 Line's, 1 block, 1 +AG

Taking +1AV just feels lame... I know it will help with survivability in the long run, but the lack of a short term gain makes it much less appealing in my mind. +1MV feels more useful and is what I'm leaning towards at the moment, but feels like side step or even guard would add a lot more utility.

I don't have much Amazon experience or long league experience (this is a MBBL team), so I'd really appreciate any advice from experience folk out there.

Many thanks in advance!

Ditto. Both are just peachy. Side Step is maybe a little more powerful, but doubles are common and Catchers have A access. MA7 is very, very nice, and tends to lead to lots more SPP. Can't go wrong with either, no point in considering anything else.

Maybe sidestep over MA....

Compare to one of my favorites: the Blodging Ghoul

7337 for 90,000 gp

With +MA, your blitzer would be:

7337 for 120,000 gp

In comparison it sounds a little pricey....

On the other hand... Sidestep now, with Guard next, is just so wrong as to be right....

took +MA on mine and she is great. The SPP's just flow. on a team that is all mv6 that +1 maes more of a difference than you would think

Totally. I mean, it makes sense if you consider that each half of the pitch is 13 squares long by 15 squares wide; from two behind scrimmage, you can reach anywhere in 2 turns with MA7, without GFI'ing unless it's into the end zone; you can also blitz anywhere your MA6 buddy can lay an assist, with the same number of GFIs. From inside the WZ hashmarks, you can cross the hashmarks on the other side, so if the play goes the other way you can still play coverage.

wtf?

+ma or sidestep for sure she'll soon get to 16spp then get guard with which both of these options would be helpful. sidestepping guarders are a pain in the ass and ma7 means you can move it about more

Guard because MA or sidestep adds 30 tv instead of 20. Sidestep is very similar to standfirm, so take that on a normal roll if you want, but take guard first because it is the best skill there is!

Totally disagree, Jimmy. Side Step is better than either Stand Firm or Guard in the wide zone, and a whole lot better for AV7 on the line. Guard is a very good skill, yes, but not so good as to be an obvious pick on a double for a S-access player.

Agree with Joe, disagree with Jimmy.

Personally, I'd go with the +MA, but I don't think Side Step is the "wrong" choice.

Or sidestep for annoyance.

To say the least.

Sidestep or +MA for sure, as others have said. +MA is a rarer roll, so that would be my choice, but both will improve your team.

I'd only ever take +AV on an exceptional piece.

This. If I roll a 10 at 51 SPP, I ask myself, "how many AV rolls does this guy take?" I've never actually taken +AV, but I've considered it several times. For a Block/SS Ghoul, I'd take it on a 6+4 at 31 SPP. But that's because Ghouls can't be Apo'ed.
