Orcs vs Slann

Hi,
My little Orc Team has to play in our league against Slann next.
My Orc Team currently:
1 Troll
4 Black Orcs (1 with Guard)
4 Blitzers (1 with guard)
1 Thrower (Block)
1 Journeyman (Elves killed my Lineorc :( )

The Slann are well developed but lucky for me they suffer a few MNG's so they start only with 11 frogs - 1 Krox, 3 Catcher, 2 Blitzer

For Inducements i have 440kGp.
I thought about Varagh + Wizard or Varagh + Chainsaw + 50k Card?

I am open for any other suggestions.
Oh and does anyone has a "more or less" working Defensive Setup against Slann?
I am not sure how to set up best there.... the standart Ziggurat i ususally use doesnt look promising against Slann.

Greetings Doodle

For inducements, I think you should take a master chef to deplete his rerolls.

For defense, use your black orcs to force him (as much as possible) to have to leap/dodge in order to get free from your line of scrimmage.

That is a very sound idea - Slann rely on re-rolls (for leaping) more than any other team. For the remaining 140,000 you could take a Mercenary Lineorc with Dirty Player. Just a suggestion.

Master Chefs are good against Slann.

Ripper over Varag. Slann aren't fast enough to get good mileage out of a deep defense, and Ripper makes it easy to engineer extra blocks against his linefrogs and Krox. I'm not high on the Wizard against the Slann team, but it's still worth the cost. Cards could do just as well. How many TRRs do you have? Have you considered a Merc Leader Thrower or a Merc Goblin (ammo) and a TRR/Apo? That gives you 13 bodies, and with the Grab can force your opponents to Leap.

Still, it's hard to ignore the Chef. How many TRRs does he have?

I have 2 RR, and the frogs have 4.

Hmmm... that does make the Chef tempting. What kinds of skills do the Slann have?

Either Chef and Leader Thrower, or Ripper and Leader Thrower, or Ripper, Goblin and TRR.

If my Slann faced the chef, I'd poo myself. Take the chef and something else: DP lineman sounded good as you can gang foul the first frog to blow a leap. You'll have a man advantage in no time ;-)

Just out of curiosity... what makes the Leader Thrower better then jsut a plain reroll? I mean Leader Thrower costs me 150k Inducements (70+30+50) normal Reroll just 100k. And its not like i would prefer to make a TD or throw a pass with a journeyman if possible anyways. Since my team is one of the few new teams in the league I am not playing for the trophy at the end anyways. mainly trying to get my guys skilled up so TD's on a Merc are a bad thing in my book :)

Frog skills are alot of Block and some Guard a few Dodge.

So my Inducement Options:

a) Chef + something for up to 140k
b) Ripper + something for up to 170k
c) Varagh + something for up to 150k

My thought about Varag is that with S4, Block and Mighty Blow he might be better to give me the number advantage then Ripper without the Blockskill. Not 100% sure here.

About the Chef I have to admit I have Never used him in my entire life yet (havent played Halflings since 4.0)

Reroll + warm body. That's all. Reroll + merc lineman costs 180k, which is 10k more than you can take with Ripper. So if you take Ripper, it's your choice of Goblin + TRR or Leader Thrower.

With MC, I advised incorrectly. Take MC + DP Lineman.

Ripper vs. Varag: ST6 means he's one assist away from 3d, though Varag is slightly less likely to turn over. Also, Grab is awesome for setting up more hits later. Do a little thread-search through this forum, and you'll find a thread, "Orcs vs. Dwarfs: Inducements" or something like that, on how to get maximum grind on offense out of Ripper.
