Where to Kick Long or Short?

I was reading Deathwing & Sputnik's exchange on another topic and was wondering how people played kicks?
Do you want the kick to go long or short?
Normally I'll kick short. This allows me to get good pressure on the ball carrier immediately and forces my opponent to make the play. You are also in a better position to exploit Blitzes.
However if I'm playing a fast team and my opponent doesn't have a long passing game or I really want to stop them forming a cage, then I'll kick long and hope I can get a couple of players behind the lines and cut the ball carrier off from the bulk of the team.
How do you play it?

Depends on the teams and the situation I guess.
I've generally hoped for a long kick as it forces the opponent to run back for it and thus take longer to get back to where they want to be. I guess this is less effective against fast teams or teams that can throw.
To be honest i've never really thought about it in too much detail though.

Against running and bashing teams, kick long. They want the ball to be as far ahead as possible after their first turn, so make that hard to do.
Against passing teams, kick short. They want to be holding the ball deep with their thrower after turn one, make this hard for them.

Kick deep against bashers if you have a fast team - dont allow them to make their cage.... did that the other day against an orc team with my woodies. One of my wardancers sidestepped of the LOS into my opponents half - then proceeded to blitz the orc thrower, who had the ball in the endzone - what can I say.... TD!!!!

Simple rule of thumb that covers every situation:
-Decide where your opponent wants the ball to be
-Choose a spot from which the ball is likely to end up to a place where the opponent doesn't want it to be
-And remember to use the
"Where To Kick-Off"-calculator (by yours truly) to minimise the possibility of a touchback and to get decent enough odds to get the ball where you want it to go.

I prefer to have a lineman with kick, and place the ball to one of the sides in the middle depending on where my strongest runner/blitzer is.
In that way you might force him to throw the ball in security, or maybe he has to take linemen down to protect the ball carrier.

That's odd - all the permissions are like they should be... try going directly to the index.html in that directory:
