Slann advise needed and skill ups

I have been playing slann now in our league.
First few games went ok. But now they hit a losing streak, 4 in a row
Development slowed right down and DIE suck!

Managed lastgame to lose 3 to 4 against welfs (+ST, 2 +Ag etc). Last 2 turns of match the die actualy worked so could score 3'th TD
Actually managed to get 4 skill ups

Team is as folows
Krox 22 Guard BreackTackle
Blitz 11 (normal skill)
Blitz 2
Catch 21 Guard, Dodge
Catch 8 Dodge
Catch 31 Blodge (double2=>Guard)
Catch 16 Stripball (11 =>+1Ag)
Line 2
Line 7 (double 3=>Guard)
Line 11 Wrestle
Line 2
Line 5 (-1Ag)
Line 0 (-1Av)

Rerolls 4
FF3
Apoth
100k Banked
W3 D0 L5

Teams atleast to play against are Human, Dwarf, Chaos, Amazon, Slann

Normal skill on Blitzer would suggest Guard but those 2 doubles mannage that too.
So what to do or should i pick other skills for the doubles.
+1Ag seems too good not to pick.

Any advice would be appreciated

I read the SLANN PLAYBOOK By Ikterus on plasmoids site but somehow i am not getting the results needed

I'd take Guard for the lino and catcher. Two catchers with Guard isn't overkill as you can very easily lose the other one.

For the blitzer I'd give Block. A blitzer with just Guard is a not very good player that costs 130k. I'm in the no Wrestle on slann blitzers camp myself.

The fourth catcher is iffy. I think Strip Ball has been a bad pick on him. My guess is that you've gotten to use it for good effect maybe once, maybe never. An AG5 catcher is awesome for a slann team but I'd still be tempted to cut him and start fresh. Strip Ball is a good skill for slann, but only for the linos to complement Wrestle.

Getting out of specifics, my guess is that your problem is that your team is bloated right now. There's a huge amount of TV in the positionals and the kroxigor but you're not getting the mileage out of them right now. Other teams at similar TV either outbash or outdodge you comfortably. You can easily set up a 2d block on the ball carrier with an aerial assault with those two catchers. The bad thing is that you lack the delivery vehicles, the Wrestle/Strip Ball/Tackle linos.

What I'm getting at is that your team has too much TV in the catchers and the krox but the blitzers and linos have only three skills altogether! You seriously need to start focusing on getting skills for both blitzers and linos. Especially the blitzers are iffy without any skills but they have such amazing skill access that new skills are pure gold on them. You can also unlock a lot of synergy from the starting skills for them. Plus skilling up the linos and blitzers could give you that magic +AG or +ST on a ST3 leaper.

Ullis thanks for the input.

As for the Blitzers having no skills both have only been on the team for 1 and 2 matches, the skilled up one played his second. Started without Blitzers.
The stripball catcher i've had since game 1 and did help me out alot till i got the guard one after game 3. His new skill would have been tackle but the +1Ag came up.

Team Value is a real problem due to the WDL ratio i'am curently 9th in the league but 2th in Value after a woodelf (2th), other woodelf is 3th value (1th place), other Slann 4th value (3th place).

I'am beginning to thing buying the Blitzers late was a mistake but i was missing guard in my team, but now those doubles came up and the Blitzers seem a real mistake. but firing one is a real waste of money.
Especialy since almost every game some players seem to mis a game. Fortunately i've had only one lino Dead (killed in game 1 while 3 die Blocking a goblin, in which i also got the -1Ag, with MVP, so no pass here for skill, and the -1Av) after 8 games
And the Human team still needs to play 2 games before facing me so will only get stronger, so thats going to be a dificult game to again. So Block will probably be a good choise on the Blitzer

Stats
2.125 TD for in 8 Matches
2.5 TD against
1.5 CAS for
2.5 CAS against

So a few more games down the road to oblivion.
another Catcher roled a double for his skillup.
The skill problem is only compounding with 2 lino's dead and another one got fired afterstacking up 3 stat decreases for no skill.

The new doubles vexes me should i ignore it or not?
Help is apreciated.

Team is as folows
Krox 22 Guard BreackTackle, (-1Av)
Blitz 19 Block, +1Ag
Blitz 7 Guard
Catch 33 Guard, Blodge
Catch 36 Blodge, (double4)
Catch 33 Blodge, Guard
Catch 42 Stripball, +1Ag, Dodge
Line 4
Line 9 Guard
Line 7 (-1Ag), Wrestle

Rerolls 4
FF5
Apoth
200k Banked
W5 D3 L6

Also Nuffle loves my team so playing them results in a massive case of Murphy's Law.
last game a 2-0 advantage in turn 3 1st half ended 2-2 with second half last turn ballsack and ball play from one side of pitch to other by amazons.
Game before saw 6-2 victory with no players left on field. 5-0 at half time then chaos pulled the can of whoopass open and gone was my team

I just now realized that Slann and lizardmen are different races. What's the deal with that? :?:

I think I'd pass on the doubles for now and go for Sure Hands or Side Step. A third Guard on the catchers would be too much, especially as you already have five in total.

Someone's bound to suggest Pass but I'd steer clear of that. Slann just don't need a dedicated passer. Hail Mary Pass is another possibility as it works on both offence and defence but still I'd expect you to get very marginal use from it. Same with Pass really. Nerves of Steel is iffy too. You'll only need it if you get the ball in a spot where you can't dodge out and you've already jumped in. That doesn't happen too often and in those situations Sure Hands is better anyway to get the ball in the first place.

Get more linemen and get skills (Wrestle) on them. In the meantime I'd probably develop that +AG blitzer into a cage buster with either Tackle or Strip Ball. You already have Guard on the catchers and they can support any aerial attack. Tackle works well with Diving Tackle. And get Block on that Guard blitzer as soon as possible. I really don't know why Ikterus favours getting Guard as a first skill on blitzers. They become really costly, non-bashy, not very mobile ST3 players with Guard. That's not good value.

As you already have a guarding catcher I'd go for HMP. It one thing to get the ball in a scum it another to get it out. Being able to throw the ball out of 3 or 4 tackle zones on a 2+ is pretty good. Plus you have 3 other player with diving catch so someone might even catch the pass.

dr. evil - I seem to get the ball in a scum quite a lot too.

All the best.

Thinking surehands or ss to but waiting for my next opponent to see which. his Slan need to play 2 games first before we meet.

Probaly getting some linemen depends on opponent too.
