I don't think I've seen a thread on the topic so far. What is the best way to manage an AV7 team at high team value?
The issue is that spiralling expenses reduce your earnings while you still need to regularly replace the players you lost, I'm thinking about the Norse in particular although I guess that other teams such as pro-elves have the same problem.
Do you artificially reduce your TV, for example by reducing the amount of positionals you play or even the total amount of players (for example only 11 players - not a lot with AV7 but if you only play against other high TV teams you can get extra players with the inducements) or do you go for the best team regardless of TV?
At the moment I've opted for the second option although my Norse have had huge net cash outflows over the last few games as I had to replace a few players while my earnings were pretty low; if it keeps going like that I'll be short of cash in no time.

My playing experience suggests that you manage your TV by dying, with minor variations.

I think elves really don't have the same problem. While they have the same armor value, it isn't uncommon to see teamwide dodge coupled with either block or wrestle. Even if they're going up against tacklers, by that point they generally have the re-rolls to get keep out of tackle zones.

Also elves can actually do a pretty good job of mounting an offense even if they put less than 11 on the field or if they have a couple journeymen.

Whereas with Norse casualties are going to keep coming, and starting a game with only 11 players is a horrid prospect.

First of all I think Norse doing well at high TV is a challenge, for many reasons.

But for this specific issue I think it would be good to bank up cash prior to getting too far into spiraling territory.

As for already being there. I think there might be an issue with team bloat if you're into high spiraling range. Those three skill linemen? Probably not worth their weight in inducements. You might just want to fire them.

Similarly it might be a time to fire some underperformers. Did you skill up your Yhette without them getting any doubles? Probalby time to show the bum the door and try to build up a winner.

I really think the key is avoiding wars of atrition, and being active in making sure your players dont stand in TZs.

I cant say I'd have experience of your problem as SE wasnt properly added in fumbbl's betadiv & in our TT league semifinal bonus-winnings carried the team through seasons.

I can't imagine this being a huge problem in a league of varied race-composition though, norse linemen are frail - but cheap & come with a useful skill. The positionals rarely die if you protect them.

How do you "protect" the positionals if they are 8 out of the 11 players on the field?

Also I find guard linemen are very worthwhile and harder to replace than positionals with regular roll skills, so I find I'm actually protecting them, and than winding up with a couple. Not a problem when I haven't filled out the positionals yet and so have linemen to throw in the way.

But at high TV with a fleshed out Cockerel it seems that the opponents should always have the option to blitz a valuable and vulnerable player.
