+AG Pro-elf thrower 3d skill

I rolled 6+4 on the 3d skill roll of a pro-elf thrower who has +AG and dodge, what would you recommend?

I think that the main options are the following:
- Block. It's boring but I think that giving block and dodge to all pro-elves is a priority to keep them alive.
- Wrestle. I use this player as a last-resort blitzer as with AG5 and dodge he can enter a cage and get a 1d block on the ball carrier provided that there's no one with guard around.
- +MA. Extends blitzing range, makes him a better ball retriever.
- Safe throw. I was told it was a good skill but I never used it up to now, I always find ways to go around intercepters and I try to only do short or quick passes so I'm not sure it would be that useful.

I took Safe Throw on my Thrower after Sure Hands, because with the Catchers having Nerves of Steel I find myself throwing the ball within interception range quite often - and I hate getting intercepted. However +1 MA is very nice on a player with MA 6, so it's a tough call. I wouldn't bother with Block unless you find that he is getting hit regularly, usually my elven Throwers do not get hit very often, if at all.

So, to me it's a toss between +1 MA and Safe Throw. However considering the style of play you described I think you would get more out of +1 MA.

I would take +MA. If you do not take movement (what would be a mistake  ) I would take sure hands. With AG5 and dodge he goes everywhere to pick up that lost ball. And you do not have to RR that one on the pick up.

My main problem with sure hands is that he doesn't always pick up the ball; I have two throwers and when I receive I like to put the two of them in the backfield and then they pass the ball to each other to farm SPPs - in my last game I made eight passes which is a personal record.

On the other hand it could be good to have at least one player on the team with sure hands; I ended drawing that last game because the opponent (pro-elves as well) had a player with strip ball and I found it quite hard to defend against him.

I'm hesitating about the +MA because I used to have a lineman with +ST and guard which died a couple of games ago after getting injured for the third time since he got the +ST increase, so it's great to have stat increases and doubles but at the end of the day it's even better to have players staying alive, so that's why I first wanted to give block to that thrower...

Id go for sure handss but it really depends on what league you are playing in. If it is an online league like B or MM then i would just go for Block. If it is a perpetual leagu eI would probably go for sure hands. If it is a single season league then the skill i take would depend entirely on the opponents i have left to play - for instance if there are no games left against elves or skaven or anyteam that could pester you with strip ball then i would take something else.

Take the move... you can virtually retrieve the ball anywhere from a kickoff.

Then go for safe throw.

My WE thrower is 7357, pass, accurate, strong arm, safe throw (53pts)... he's awesome!

Yours would also be awesome too.

Another vote for MA. Normally I'm not a fan of MA on a player who's a little slower than a lot of his teammates, but on a Thrower it's another story.

+1 on mv. Not sure what I would want after that but I don't think I would choose block. Not that block is a bad choice but it does mean you would plan on him getting hit. Rather hang back, move around and make a throw and score on the same turn. Safe throw or accurate. Doubles strong arm? Something like that.

we need to know moe about the environment you play in,

For instance if you only have 2 games left this season accurate would probably be the best choice because that increases his passing range again.

If you have 100 more games then another route will be preferable also your opponents teams in your league would change the skill i would pick.

Looks like there's consensus on +MA...

Re the environment I play in a tabletop perpetual league. The teams that are dominating the league at the moment are chaos, chaos dwarf, undead, orc and skaven (one of each) although I could spend an entire season including end-of-season cup without facing any of them. In a few months we'll also have an elf cup (open to elf teams only obviously) to which I plan to participate.

However I'm not sure it matters much, pro-elves have a short lifespan anyway so I'm not sure he'll be able to reach 51SPPs - I already got four players killed and two players maimed in eleven games, I got unlucky on casualty rolls in two horrendous games but then again in another game the opponent spent the entire game blitzing with a player with tackle mighty blow piling on and he didn't do a single casualty so all in all I'd say the injuries were about average and I expect to take the same amount of damage in the next eleven games...

narg - I too would take the +1MA. The Throwers are rather unassuming players on this team (just Linos with Pass), and are overshadowed by the Blitzers and Catchers. +1MA creates a genuine positional player.

Kick-off Return would be a good skill at some point for this player, to further enhance the +1MA.

All the best.

Ok, block will survive longer but you do not need that block that often.

And block only save you till then next clear pow, 9 on armour, 10 on injury. (or the next dubbel one on dodge)

Movement will be used almost every turn and with the +AG and dodge you have the mobility to go everywhere.

I would not bother with block. Just keep the player away from trouble... first piece you move, the thrower away from danger.

+MA - better range retrieving the ball where ever it is.

After that I'd take Safe Throw so you can chuck the ball into traffic more reliably.

I agree with double skulls, in that sort of environment +ma will serve you best as he will make a very good ball retriever and distributor both on offence and defence
