Orcs - Guard - Formation?

Post by VonGoldkokse »

Ok iam playing my next Matches against Dark elfs and mostly Agiteams without STR4 guys or any Guard!!!

So i was looking for a def. formation that allows me to make it impossible for the opponent to breach trough. Is there any or what would you suggest?

Troll Block Pro Guard
Bob Block
Bob Block
Bob Guard
Bob Guard
Blitzer MB +MA
Blitzer MB Tackle
Blitzer Jump Up
Blitzer Guard
Thrower +AG Dodge Block
Thrower Block Guard
Lino Kick

Witch Elfs, because if they do you don't want a guy surfable 1st turn.
I would go with standard ziggurat.

Ya BUT: If i put on the sides my Bobs with Guard and alongside my thrower or blitzer with Guard the have STR5 and the Witch can get only one assist due to NO guard. So practically 2 Dices against. Thats what i would do.

So you want to run something like?

- - - -|- - x x x - -|- - - -
- - - -|- - - - - - -|- - - -
- x x -|- x x - x x -|- x x -
- - - -|- - - - - - -|- - - -
- - - -|- - - - - - -|- - - -

I guess it depends on how aggressive your opponent is. I wouldn't try to crowd surf on a d2 against but from the looks of the opponents DE roster they might be a bit unpredictable. If my count is right they have 13 players. Unless they play on fouling a lot I don't think I'd want the extra tv. That ag3 witch is aweful.

I think the odds are with you should you want to run the sides in that manner.

Yeah that is one of the two formationoption :)

He is pretty aggressive and riskful and always follows up his blocks and positions his players adjecent to my orcs.

Thanks Urb your advices are always very appreciated :)

Following up blocks vs orcs? Bad idea. If that's how your opponent plays I don't think you'll need much strategy to beat them. They'll arrange for the loss all by themselves.

No good reason not to move your wingers (the guys on the far sides) back one from Urb's diagram, and use Blitzers there; then, you can use the Guard BOBs on the inside as flankers. Without any Guard he can only 1d/1d the guy, unless he uses 4 actions to set up wide assists, in which case he can sacrifice his team and hopes to 1d/2d, not resulting in a surf (well, you might surf him).

If he plays like you say he does, the only advice I can offer you is to be nice to your dice between now and the game. Good AV rolls will give you a laugher.

Thanks Matt!

So it was a draw but iam happy. First half he couldnt really breach trough but in the end with a desperate dodge he managed the score. In second i was only able to even. Well anyways he was pretty surprised by not doing any 2d blocks :) constantly :D.

And i managed to cas 7 Players 4 of them not participating in the rematch ;).

A 1-1 draw with 7 Cas? I'd score that as a win ;)
