urgent norse help please

Post by nazgob »

Quick question for norse players. Which star players do you guys actually use?

Any gaming context. Just want to know which are best.

Thanks.

Helmut is handy against some teams. Fairly cheap too.

Reason: ''
The Scrumpers (Wood Elf)
Gitmo (Chaos Dwarves)
Sheik Ya Bouti (Khemri)
Fast and Furry (Skaven)
The Disposables (Halflings)
Young Mutants Chaos Association (Chaos)

Boomer and Helmut since they're cheap and Wilhelm because he is good, AV9 teams are unreasonably scared if they are reduced to the same AV as the norse, even with no MB involved.

Boomer and Helmut. Boomer is a lineman with AV infinity and Secret Weapon, who can morph into a free blitz if you can stall out the cage.

I've used Icepelt and had success with him; he's not as bad as he looks. However, you have to be a huge underdog, and yet not so huge you can take Morg + Wizard (unless you can take Morg + Icepelt, heh heh heh).

Don't forget to consider Mercenary players with 1 skill (for an extra 50,000), especially if you do not have all the positional players on your roster. These can be quite cost-effective and tailored to the opposition that you face. Examples:

SnoT with M-Blow for 220,000 (better than Icepelt?)
Beserker with M-Blow or Guard or Tackle for 170,000
Thrower with Leader for 150,000
Lino with D-Player for 130,000 (plus Bribe)

All the best.

Yeah, plus Ulf with Block or Juggernaut for 190k, or a rookie Runner vs. strength teams (Journeyman lino + Dauntless for 10k less). I'd take Helmut over the DP Lino. Tackle or Guard Berserker is good on a rookie team; otherwise, he doesn't compare to Helmut + Babe. The Leader Thrower is a better deal than a TRR + Babe, but maybe not by as much as you'd think, and not on par with the Wizard. Perhaps if you use it as justification to start only 2 TRRs, for better player quality. Maybe also you'd take that guy after a Wizard (though I'd be tempted by a Wandering Apo and a Babe, or by Helmut). The Yhetee with MB is better as a bargain than Icepelt, but not as good a player (ST6, no WA vs. MB) and you can't take him if you've already got your own Yhetee.

Norse are the single best team to get Bloodweiser Babes, by the way. They also make great use out of Wandering Apothecaries, for use on the first Cas suffered every game. Norse like Wizards (who doesn't?), but not nearly as much as they hate being on the wrong side of one!

Never take a Chef. Only get Extra Training if you have deliberately skimped on TRRs.
