Post by KnuckleGutKiller »

Ok I would do a vote but there would be to many choices. What is the BEST LEAGUE TEAM and why?

What is the WORST LEAGUE TEAM and why?

I am partial to Dark Elves, but there are so many things to consider for this question.

Development
Starting power
Overall players
Cost
How many teams are in the league
How many games are going to be played

All the teams are pretty balanced but, I might venture out and say Undead, purely because of Endurance. They can Give and Recieve a lot of punishment throughout the entire season. Elf, Skaven, and just about any AV7 team develop into great teams but are always threatened by ONE bad game ruining their entire season, especially early on. For shorter Seasons maybe ORCs or Humans just because they can get so many position players right in the beginning.

There isn't one single best or worst team, its more down to coaching ability and sound tactics and of course a little luck can go a long way.

While wandering round the net bored one day, I happened to aspy a lovely little calculator that determined how powerful/costly a team were.

I seem to remember the Woodies/Dwarves doing quite well out of it.

Seriously, they are fairly well balanced, so it comes down to a mix of taste and pleasure. Play whatever team you like, as long as you go out to enjoy the game, and it suits you <Don't try slogging with a Helf team unless you REALLY want to , it takes perseverance!>.

Patronising over

Gk.

The answer is pretty obvious, it has to be Chaos Dwarves. It's all in the magical 'good roll' powers of the big hats. And how can you go wrong with sneaky gits and freaky dwarf/bulls?

The worst team has to be High Elves, I have no evidence for this but we all know it's true. :D

Lies damn lies spread by Dwarves who don't hide the chaos that corrupts them all. Noble Elves are the only true Blood Bowl players and all others just pale imitations.

I would like to remind everyone that in our league Chaos Dwarves are 3-0 including a humiliating defeat of the High Elves. In fact, the High Elves even lost to Humans.

Sure, we've played a total of like 6 games in our career, sure we don't know the rules, sure I play with loaded dice, but I think the stats still speak for themselves.

The best team: the one played by the best coach.
The worst team: the one played by the worst coach.

Here endeth the lesson.

I agree with Marcus, but their seems to be teams that are easier to get to grips with for beginners. That could explain the succes of the Chaos Dwarfs in the Hamilton league.

While my High Elves have only lost once in 14 games (do I need to say it was Marcus) and have 3 victories over Chaos Dwarves. :smoking:

I'm partial to the Big Hats. You can start with 13 players and 3 RR's. The first couple of games are rough while you try to find a way to score, but my centaurs just take the game over. In my first 4 gamesthis season, before I hired my 2nd Bull Centaur, my first one had every touchdown for my team. 7 TD's in 4 games and I was 3-1.

Now I have a Accurate, Sure Hands Hobbo, and he has been incredible for tossing short passes to anybody available(usually the Centaurs)

Nobody wants to play the JaeGruund Ironfire...

It depends on the league you play in as well as the coaches against whom you play.

The coaches I usually play against are prone to running/passing teams and doesn't foul all that much. This means that the best team is Wood Elves as they are have the best BB player of all teams (Wardancer) and great speed. And the worst team in the league is a dwarf team as they are hindered by their movement.

In another league with different playing styles you should choose differently, which is what makes playing Blood Bowl challenging; Adapting your playing style means the difference between a win or loss.

I've found that as the overall level of skill in a league increases then you get to the point where no one particular style of play dominates. When the ECBBL started nobody could beat my style of play. Now my tactics are etched into the memory of ECBBL coaches and I'm almost considered and easybeat.

Similarly, I am discovering new tactics for dealing with bashing teams and slow drives all the time, as well as new ways of shutting down bomb plays.

The upshot is that we have a good breadth of tactical knowledge in the league which makes no particular style more effective than another. This is really the ideal that you want to aspire to in a league - the point where everyone can play every style of team and the outcome comes down to the skill of the coach.

If your league mostly plays finesse with no fouling then I suggest you start a dirty, dirty, dirty murder team. Chaos with RSF and Dirty Player. Loads of Guard. Grind down the pitch and massacre every single elf you see. They'll soon learn a very harsh lesson and perhaps their play will improve. :smoking:

Implicit restrictions on styles of play in leagues are detrimental to the overall skill of the coaches because you're only playing with half the deck, so to speak.
