Orc Blitzer skill up
Greetings,
I have an Orc Blitzer with Pro and 4 AG. He just hit enough points for his next skill and I was wondering what to put on him. I rolled a 7 so it will need to be from the General or Strength options. I put Pro on him initially because I had just finished losing a game in overtime where I had no rerolls left and I kept failing most of my rolls. I definitely regret going that route with him as I fail most of my Pro rolls but since I got the agility boost on him I'm not willing to cut him and start over. I don't use him like I do the other Blitzers, on D I use him as a safety because he has the ability to pick up the ball if he knocks it free. On offense I run him down the field as a receiving option in case my cage gets held up.
I'm not looking to put Guard or Mighty Blow on him like I do the others. I was thinking about Fend or Stand Firm, possibly Sure Hands to negate Strip Ball. I don't really want to put a skill on him that allows re-rolling of dice because I can do that with Pro. I think I'm leaning towards Stand Firm but any advice you can give would be great.
Thanks,
Slaundrew

Guard is still good for a ball carrier as it lets you blitz markers off him more easily.

If you are using him as a safety on defense, the obvious option to me is tackle.

Pro isn’t terrible if you use it for things like re-rolling non-pow blocks near the end of a turn. But with AG4 it does lack synergy, unless you are in the situation where all re-rolls are gone or you use him to try and pick up a safe ball at the end of your turn.
If you don’t want to take either guard or MB on him then tackle is certainly an option if you are lacking it. Failing that Strip ball or even frenzy could be an option.

Okay, most people are going to say it's lame, but go for Dauntless!
You say you use him as a safety, for which Dauntless is useful, and it combines well with Pro as Dauntless is exactly the kind of roll on which you don't want to waste a reroll but which can be helpful.
The classics are of course guard tackle and mighty blow and you can't go wrong with them but I was trying to find something more suitable for a player with AG4 and pro. It would transform him into a blitzer of high-strength targets, which usually don't have dodge anyway, and you could get the tackle / mighty blow combo on other blitzers.
In most of my teams I try to build a strong player (ST4 or ST5 if possible) with blodge and sure hands to maximize ball protection, so that would work against me.

Strong arm - you have a passer there, son
get a couple of gobbo receivers and he's more than a safety

Frenzy is definitely an option. Seeing as how Pro is useless unless you have used your reroll on something else, doing things that mean more dicerolling gets potentially more use out of it.spubbbba wrote: If you don’t want to take either guard or MB on him then tackle is certainly an option if you are lacking it. Like having to dodge without skill to blitz someone, and then having two sets of block dice to roll.

Thanks for the feedback. I likely won't put tackle on him because I have it on two of my other Blitzers. I definitely see the benefit of Guard. I don't usually take Frenzy because I find a lot of the time I don't want to follow it up and hit him again. I can see the benefit of having Pro with Frenzy. Right now I think it's narrowed down to Guard, Stand Firm or Frenzy.

I have two throwers so I don't think I'd use it enough. You do have me doubting myself though as Strong Arm with an agility increase would be awesome.Shteve0 wrote:Not strong arm, then?

And pro works (sometimes) with the combo too. Drop one of the throwers and get a couple of gobbos in there as quick score options, so if your safety digs the ball out he can pump it up field for a counterattack.

Strong arm is a complete wate on an Orc Blitzer, you certainly don’t need 3 passers on an Orc team. Orcs shouldn’t be passing unless things are pretty dire and strong arm is a skill you will rarely use as well, AG4 is far too good to waste and he already has 1 sub-par skill.SlaunRew wrote:I have two throwers so I don't think I'd use it enough. If you are reasonably developed I’d suggest sacking both throwers and giving the Blitzer Sure Hands to make him your ball carrier. With MA 6 and AG4 he is a much better runner than the throwers and AV9 means he will stay on the pitch longer too.
