I agree, but at the same time I find a ST3 player costing 140,000 and without Block, Wrestle, Dodge or Guard rather unlovely. You can have 2 Linefrogs, one with Wrestle, for the same price. Food for thought.dode74 wrote:MA. MA8 with Jump Up is lovely.

True, but if you don't take the good rolls when they come then you never get the great players. Risk/reward, as with everything BB.

Block.
Slann Blitzers are awful without skills but great with 4 skills so delaying his skills is terrible unless for ST or AG I think.

Re: Slann Blitzer 5 5 First Skill
I acknowledge that a Slann Blitzer with plenty of skills is a rather good player.
However, I also note that nobody ever takes Blitzers on a Slann team in a tourney. Where such practice is universally followed, I think it is reasonable to ask: Why take Blitzers in a league?
All the best.

Because in a tourney you can (usually) give one skill at most to any player, whereas in a league you can skill them up to 6. And since Slann Blitzers are very good with 3-4+ skills, it's worthwhile to take the effort to get them there.Smeborg wrote: However, I also note that nobody ever takes Blitzers on a Slann team in a tourney. By the same logic then, it would appear that Slann Blitzers are not worthwhile in a short league, only (possibly) in a long one.Dr. Von Richten wrote:Because in a tourney you can (usually) give one skill at most to any player, whereas in a league you can skill them up to 6. I'd take Block too. I doubt I'd ever take +MA on a slann blitzer though I wouldn't hesitate on +AG or +ST. There's just so many other skills that are better for a slann blitzer.

Re: Slann Blitzer 5 5 First Skill
I had the same dilemma on my slann team.
The skill path for a blitzer is probably either block, dodge guard sidestep or block mighty blow piling on tackle/frenzy. Given it takes so long to skill these guys up by taking ma you are pushing the rest of the skills back too far.
I took block but haven't played enough games since to regret or not.
+ma is for the catchers.

Re: Slann Blitzer 5 5 First Skill
I would agree to that opinion. The Leagues I play in are both perpetual (tabletop) open leagues, and few people build teams for maximum efficiency anyway, so where I'm coming from, taking a Froxigor, 2 Blitzers and no Catchers in a starting lineup is totally valid. In a short (8-12 games + playoffs), scheduled league, were I to play with Slann, I would indeed forgo the Blitzers, or maybe take one (S access is worth it alone, take Guard on the first Skill-up, and you can have a 2D block in a cage).Smeborg wrote: By the same logic then, it would appear that Slann Blitzers are not worthwhile in a short league, only (possibly) in a long one.

What's wrong with a bit more AV? Make it a bit more durable.

Same feeling. Unless it's a perpetual/long league, I'll skip +ma.Big A wrote: (...)

Re: Slann Blitzer 5 5 First Skill
I play in a perpetual long league and I'd still take block/wrestle instead of the +MA. The blitzer works best in a marksmen/defender role so staying on his feet is more important than an extra point of movement.
