What to buy for a rookie Woodelves team ?

Post by Hegel »

After a couple of matches my rookie team consists of

2 wardancers (one with +MA, Strip Ball, one rookie)
1 catcher
8 line elves (one niggling, two -MA, one dodge)
2 rerolls
1 apothecary

Now I have enough gold to think about additional staff or rerolls (110k gold). What would you recommend ? My ideas are either 3rd reroll, thrower to skill with leader or save the money to be able to replace a dead wardancer in case of unlucky dice rolls...

Reroll. Get the 3rd RR and then start thinking about saving for dead players.

+1. Any injury is a firing injury, unless the decreased score is useless (AG loss on a Flesh Golem) or not very major on a really good player (niggle on a Legend, say). Some exceptions for -AV and -MA on a cash-poor team for positionals whose role is important and hard to fill with a different positional, but only for a little bit, until you have the cash to replace them. In your case, the latter only means niggled 'Dancers. Everything else must go.

So you would fire all three injured linos and use journeymen instead ? And risk to have a MVP awarded ob them ? We play the optional League rules where only dead players can't be MVP's.

I would have sacked them already! Get the journeyman line fodder.

Congrats, besters, as you have acknowledged (knowingly or otherwise) the exact reason for the creation of the journeyman rules: elf promotional abuse!!!

More than one league has been ruined by a fairy coach riding this intentional buff to a championship.... :pissed:

Where is the problem?
You can permanently hire the journeyelf if he should get the MVP.

Only if I have enough gold...

I'm trying to save at least enough money to be able to replace a dead wardancer first.

I'd fire the niggle guy immediately.

-MA isn't great, but the player is still mostly useful - he can dodge, provide assists, and screen.

A niggle player though is more likely to go off the pitch meaning he can't do those things - that +1 to injury means an average injury rolls goes from 7 - stunned to 8 KO'd.

I'd still rather have a niggled player than a Loner. In fact I don't get hiring a reroll and simultaneously increasing your # of players who don't benefit from rerolls. Playing with Loners is hard. I have a team on Fumbbl that lost 3 Linemen in its first game (dead, dead, -ST) and playing with 3 (now 4) Loners is a frequent annoyance. Though I guess it depends on the size of your Inner Munchkin, and whether you think working your way out of such injuries in a sporting fashion is cool or not. Teams with character are way more fun to play.

You don't want the -MA guys or the niggle taking your MVP, either.

You could easily fire the three of them, then sit on your cash until you have 160k before buying a TRR. Then, should any of your Journeymen skill, you can hire them.

Scusi, what´s a TRR ? Team Re Roll ? Does this mean I should not buy a third reroll now with my 110.000 gold, but rather wait until I have 160k ? Then buy the reroll and save more money, only hire journeyman who skills up ?

You want an injured elf to get an MVP/skill?
