The best 2,000,000 value Dwarf team you can imagine?

So a local is trying to pioneer a stupid league where you have 2,000,000gp to buy a team +skills (normals cost 20k, doubles 30k etc). I think the idea is pretty silly and wont really go anywhere. I am sure the only reason he is trying to set it up is because he just started a chaos team and doesn't want to lose early matches skilling them up.


So if you could buy a Dwarf team and all their skills what would you go for? 12 dwarfs all at str 4 would only cost 600,000 and would make the team pretty crazy!


Any thoughts?

Hmmm... I had forgotten about them. Had to dig in my past posts to work out what the hell was going on. Apparently we derailed a bretonnian thread with mockery of them wanting to field horses as players on the pitch. So a few of us started developing the horse team.

Here's my shot.

v1: 2 Slayers, 2 Blitzers, 1 Runner, 7 Blockers, Apoth, 2RR, FF0, 12 men. 1.06M.
Line: 3x Blocker with Guard: +60k
Midfield: 2x Blocker with +ST, Guard, MB: +180k
Flank/Safety: 2x Slayer with POMB, Pro: +120k
Wing: 2x Blitzer with +2ST, SS, Fend, Guard, (BT or Grab): +380k
Safety: 1x Runner with +ST, +AG, Block, Dodge: +140k
Safety: 1x Blocker with Guard, POMB: +60k
Reserve: 1x Blocker: +0

v2: 2 Slayers, 2 Blitzers, 2 Runners, 6 Blockers, Apoth, 2RR, FF0, 12 men. 1.07M.

I assume you can only buy skills? Surely not stats otherwise things would get silly fast...

Course could always be silly, skill up a deathroller and ensure you are below everyone else enough to get all the bribes to make it play the whole match!

Other options include having dodge, guard and mighty blow accross the whole team

Saying that in that sort of environment I wouldn't bother with dodge as so many tacklers would abound. Would leader be worth it?

Khemri in that environment would be a giggle...

I would certaily make identikit players though. otherwise no hope of remembering skills.

Why not play an AV7 team, bearing in mind the inevitably claw? 7447 blodge fend wood elves spring to mind...

2x Skel with Dirty Player: +40k

You've got 2x ST5/TPOMB/BT to position as you like, along with a completely indomitable 3-man wall. Though in this format, "indomitable" might be relative....

Necros would be good too. All positionals + 4 Zombies and 3 RRs = 1.15M. Let's drop a RR and take a Leader, to save some money, which means we start at 1.08M.

He's crazy.

My current roster:
3 RRs, 1 Apo
2x Longbeard with no skills
1x Longbeard with Guard/Mighty Blow
5x Longbeards with Guard/Mighty Blow/Fend
1 Runner with +st, +ag, Block, Dodge, +ag
1X Blitzer with MB/Tackle/Piling On
1x Blitzer with +St, +St, Mighty Blow, Piling On, Break Tackle (cagebreaking lulz)
2x Trollslayer with MB/Piling On

I've attached the roster (made it with my roster creation tool, plug.. www.calculateyour.tv).

With the mass fend, and 13 players, it's relatively immune to clawbombing, it's got a psychotic retriever who can grab a ball from anywhere, and immune to strip balling and wardancers, a strength boosted blitzer, and plenty of MB/PO to kill with.

I would take this against any 2k chaos roster.

2x Cager/harasser Blitzer: Blodge, Guard, SS, Fend, Tackle: +240k
1x Hunter Blitzer: +ST, +AG, Blodge, Tackle: +150k
1x Carrier Blitzer: +AG, Blodge, Guard, Fend, SH: +140k
1x Retriever Catcher: Blodge, KOR, Pro: +80k

Norse would be fun, too... it would be hella hard to get a team to that point, but it would be fun to see what it would be like when you did.

13x Lineman: 650k. 3x TRR: 180k. Apoth: 50k. Subtotal: 880k

3 men are just there to hold the LOS: Fend is cheap. One more generally sits in the reserves, and can be a rookie. Another one gets Dirty Player. Now, you have 1.04M to spend improving 8 guys.

First, let's give four of these guys ST5, just 'cause we can. Now we have 620k to spend. Dodge and Guard on all four is 240k, and helps to protect them. Two more can get Side Step, so they can hold the flanks like nobody's business. That leaves us with 320k.

Two guys should be F-U hunter-types, no? So let's spend 120k upgrading them to Ulfs (cheaper than ST and Frenzy, gives S access). Let's give them BTMB too, for another 120k. That leaves us with 100k and two more guys to spend money on. How about one more rookie and one with +AG and Sure Hands? That gives us the money to buy Tackle for the two ST5/Blodge/Guard/SS guys, or for PO for the Ulfs.

Spam Guard and Fend (you know he only wants to bring a ClawPomb team, so never let him use PO) on everyone. Runner with Dodge, +AG, KOR. Then +STR, MB your Slayers? Maybe throw in some dodge. If you expect any agile teams, thinking about putting on a lot of Diving Tackle.

Is this happening? If it looks like it might, but it's a bit too silly, may I introduce an attempt at what he probably wants, but much more realistic?

1) Rather than running a league, run a long-running res tourney.
1a) Make SPP factor into success criteria, but only as a minor factor. Instead, keep running totals of each character's SPP for postseason all-star awards.

2) 2M gold, sure. ≤1M to spend on improvements, the difference to spend or keep (see below).
2a) Treasury regenerates too, as does potential for Petty Cash. This really means your leftover Treasury is your inducement fund each match; no need to compare TV.

3) How to buy improvements.
3a) One player is your All-Star, and can have any value whatsoever in exactly six improvements.
3b) Two more are All-Pros, and may have up to 120k value in up to five improvements (only one Legend per team).
3c) The others may each have up to 100k in up to four improvements.
3d) There is a limit to how many unusual improvements you may take.
Doubles: Six.
Stats: Two each MA, AV bonuses, one AG bonus, one ST bonus.
Anything: 60k to spend as you like, beyond these limits. (You could have eight doubles, or four MA bonuses, or two AG bonuses, for example.)

4) Identical players:
4a) You may develop identical players at will, so long as those players have only normal skills.
4b) For positions that allow 0-(4+) players, you may make two identical players with a single double or +MA/AV.
4c) You may take two identical players at basic (0-12 or 0-16) positions with +ST or +AG, or two doubles or +stats, provided they each have no more than 20k in other improvements.

5) Fan Factor: Free FF rules, starting FF = 8.

Opens up lots of cheese, but it's the same kind of cheese that you actually see out there.

Surely a 10 5 5 7 Sprint would be better? Maybe not so beardy (laugh) reduce the ST for sure feet.
