Developing dark elves in a bash heavy league

I am just about to start a fresh team in a bash heavy league and was looking for advice on starting roster and development
I was going to go with the 4 blitzer 6 line 1 runner 2 rr to start and my thoughts were to go with dodge over block and take guard when possible.
Am I on the right track wih this?

Yep, that's exactly how I've done it in the past, and I've had quite a bit of success with that formula.

Perfectly fine plan. Runner is optional: 10k to improve your odds of getting an Apoth after game 1 is an alternative.

FWIW, I've seen DE teams fail, and it ain't pretty. They're good (not sure about cheesy... competitive for sure), but they're not for novices.

I can agree with that to an extent.... But a "savvy" coach can milk the system and have gross advantages.... Like a prequel to Matrix... "we be waiting on the One...."

Going DE in a bash heavy league is an excellent choice.
Try to get a WE as soon as possible - you aren't going to injure many opponents, but with Frenzy you are a major threat on the sidelines - especially when you get a number of Blodge/SS players.
Guard should be your #1 doubles choice - though you may want MB if you get doubles on a designated blitz player (presumably the WE).

Agree with the above. Did the same thing, not sure about the value of the runner though - he's a soft target with no protective skills and AV7. First buy apo, then witch, then reroll or maybe switch the last two. If you can get used to their running play style you should have a good time as tackle often comes late in a bash heavy environment.

Yes, you are. As already suggested, buy the Apothecary as soon as possible, then buy the 3rd reroll and a Witch Elf, if for some reason you can't afford the 3rd reroll take Leader on your Runner.
In a bash-heavy environment having two Witch Elves is rather hard, but one gives you an extra tactical option and a crowdsurf threat.
I take Dodge on my Blitzers as first skill, (barring doubles), then Side Step or Tackle, the Linelves go Wrestle, Dodge, but the other way around is fine as well.
Probably a mix of Wrestle and Dodge is the best thing: if you take Dodge on every Linelf and you face Dwarfs or Chaos Dwarfs you are screwed, but if nobody plays them in your league you can go mass Dodge.

Sounds good. I would go block over dodge, as if you ALWAYS take guard a second roll choose combos with dodge which is not something I prefer.

I always go Dodge first on a Lino that doesn't roll doubles - that way you can go Guard if you roll doubles on the 2nd skill (followed by Block). If you roll a normal on the 2nd skill, go Wrestle. Gives you another skill roll before you have to decide on a path.

Guard combos really well with dodge on a mobile team such as elves, then you can put him where you want.
You need wrestle somewhere on the team and it is also an option on a witch instead of a lineman, then you can delay the tackle guy on the team a bit.

Sounds good
As said, in a bash heavy environnment, tackle can be neglected by teams with few skills as they won't take a skill they will mainly use against you.
I second the wrestle witch idea. Makes a very good ball sacker and comboes with jump up.

Is that really the most helpful response to someone’s 1st post on this site? I really do think when someone new joins and asks for advice we should go out of our way to welcome them. Leave the banter for more experienced bitter and cynical members who are big and ugly enough to take care of themselves and we certainly have a lot of those.
I think the OP should be applauded for brining some variety to a bash heavy league. He could just as easily have added another Orc, Chaos, Undead or Dwarf team to the mix and things would have got 1 dimensional very quickly.
Leftfield010, I agree with your starting build, the runner gives you a little extra speed and you can always give him leader if you are struggling for re-rolls and cash early on. Just bear in mind that dump off is an emergency skill not a strategy as you want to avoid an expensive AV7 player getting hit. He also does well with dodge and block, sure hands is probably less use than normal since you’ll face less strip ball against bash teams.
Dodge is a good 1st pick for linos but consider mixing in block or wrestle in case you play one of the 2 dwarf teams. But I’d go easy on the wrestle as it does make that player a less useful ball carrier and one of the elf team’s key strengths is that any player can do that well.
Guard is certainly a top choice for linos or blitzers, MB can be nice on block witches as they are a bit fragile and expensive to be used for assists. Stat wise I like any of them on positionals (MA over AV, but usually take the double on 5,5) and ST and AG are good on linos too. You can get into difficulties early on if you roll a lot of stats and doubles but if the league is perpetual you are best taking them. You can be sure if you turn them down for block and dodge Nuffle will punish you by giving you nothing but normal skills.
