Setting up to kick with Underworld

Was wondering if I could get some other people's thoughts on setting up to kick with an underworld team. Mostly looking at who to put on the line.

The Troll is the obvious one, but the other two players I haven't decided the best way to go yet.

-Put goblins on the line to save the valuable rats from taking damage. Problem I see is the risk of giving away the player advantage by giving the other side those juicy goblin targets.

-Put Blitzers on the line and hope their block and higher armour keep them around. Just hate to give free hits on these guys as I see them developing into the MVPs of the team.

I haven't played many games with Underworld, in the few games I have played I find the team to be fun but feel like I have a lot to learn about playing them. So any help I can get is appreciated.

For underworld, i'm using asymetric defense, with the troll & 2 gobs on the los.

Xtreme - I would not recommend putting any Skaven players on the line. These 6 players are the core of the team, you need them to be around to make a fist of the drive, and in a league you need them to retain their hard-earned SPPs. My experiments with putting Skaven on the line have tended to end badly.

The main consideration, as you are aware, is whether or not to put the Troll on the line. There is no simple answer, it depends on the opponent and the match situation. You need to reconsider the issue at each set-up. However, please note that as time goes by, I find myself more and more often putting 3 Gobbos on the line. This becomes easier the more often you do it, it is the nearest thing in BB to being completely naked!

The main reason for not putting the Troll on the line is so that in the event of a Blitz! rersult on the kick-off table, or a spilt ball by your opponent in his backfield on his turn 1, you can use the Troll to throw a Gobbo to pick up the ball. Although this does not happen with great frequency, it is a powerful tool.

A secondary reason is that the Troll is much more likely to stay on his feet when not on the LoS, you can therefore use him to blitz on the first turn of defense. This may be a worthwhile tactic if the Troll has Claw and you are facing an AV9 team.

Hope that helps.

I almost always set up with 3 gobs on the LOS, for pretty much the same reasons Smeborg does. My first game at Boudica Bowl this year, I had Dribblesnot set up next to the troll in case of a blitz which didn't come. However the Orc thrower had to make 2 GFIs to pick up the ball on the sideline so I attempted to throw Bomber only for the troll to eat him

Thanks for the advice guys, looking forward to getting some games in with them.

Setup with 3 goblins on the line, and the troll behind them in a online game just now. Ball was set to land in the endzone, and I rolled a blitz. So of course my troll would eat the goblin.

But if you throw one from the line, he won't be able to move if he lands as he started the turn in a TZ ;)

I sometimes put rats and troll on the line, sometimes gobs and troll and sometimes all gobs. Depends on the opposition, if they got block and tackle then putting a wrestle rat on the line for example could be better than a gob. If the blitzers aren't hugely developed then putting their av8 on the line might be worth the risk too.

That is true, guess i'm okay with feeding the troll now that I realize that.
