massive treasuries..

Our league is currently in its 2nd season. We have a few teams already with 400+ in their treasuries. I can't imagine how much some more seasoned teams might have stockpiled. What on earth can be done to make every dollar count? If money is this loose for bashier teams it seems like the campaign system has failed. In 3rd edition this kind of stuff didn't seem to happen as far as I can remember.

There is a house rule system called "Narrowing the Tiers in BloodBowl" (http://www.plasmoids.dk/bbowl/NTBB.htm), which also contains a banking rule. Have a look !

To add credit to those rules. The banking rule was voted on an based by the entire BBRC to be part of the rules. The only reason it is not part of the rules is because Jervis broke his own rule that he stated was absolute for the revised rules which was that no new rules would be added to the rules without experimental testing. As a result ... we ended up with the poorly designed Petty Cash rules which Jervis invented and jammed in instead of the better working Banking rules which had been tested by several leagues. However ... if you use banking ... I recommend after talking to leagues that use it to have the bank value be 150,000gp. I've come to the conclusion that that is the optimal point (in my opinion).

Petty Cash can be fun if you have so much you don't care.

Hi everyone - I had a look at Plasmoids change log. Things seem pretty clear on it except for the following:

What should the Snotling Stats be with the proposed changes?

What is the cost for a Halfling Linemen and Catcher and how many of each would be allowed?

I have put forth these proposals (discussion) for our league. I know many of the players will be opposed to the bank rule being implemented mid season so we will likely adjust that next year instead.

Cheers,
Michael

The Bank rule that are on Plasmoid's site are completely separate to all his other changes (which are to do with his desire to narrow the tiers).
Don't confuse the Bank change with anything else listed on there.
We use the Bank rule here, and it works fine.

We (the wild league) are introducing the bank rule from next season.
We don't consider it an house rule.
More mending something that was broken.

On the other end we are quite against narrowing the tiers.
We like them the way they are (expecially since there are huge differences of ability within the league).

Hmmm...never actually realised the Bank rule was thrown out so to speak. A consideration for any particular league I may do.

What's wrong with CRP here? Mountains of cash are boring, yes, but they're not unbalancing. You accumulate all that cash because you have nothing to spend it on, and eventually after 100 games or whatever you have enough money that you can drop 150 petty cash every time you're a 110 underdog and nab yourself a Wizard. Bank seems to me a way to hose elves, and maybe it's just that I'm a Human coach and elves are my favored prey, but watching elf teams get torn apart and never accumulating more than about 300k Treasury, I don't see that as necessary.

Mountains of cash are boring, yes, but they're not unbalancing.
They are when you are a HUGE TV overdog in an end-of-season tournament, for example, and are able to effectively nullify your opponent's inducements by buying your own. One wizard can really help make a game of things; one wizard each just brings things back to even.

Perhaps we really do need more wizards?? ;p

Yes they are.
3 more reasons:

-With huge amounts of accumulated cash (I've seen as much 1.500 k) is quite easy for a min-maxed killer team to keep an impressively high team value for an indefinite period of time, defing attrition and spiralling expenses. When you have a huge TV losing a player should hurt.
It also encourages coaches to build a bench.

-It makes a lot more convenient developing killer teams. When you have only 150k spare, you think twice before piling on.
Those who suffer most from it are not elves, which have their ways to deal with killer teams, but hybrid teams (lizard, humans, etc) that have more problems in dealing with that.

-Without the bank the overdog almost never takes inducements (save what dode said). With more inducement the game would be more varied and a lot less predictable.

Again: IMHO the bank rule is not an house rule at all.
It is the rulebook in its playtested, working, balanced version. The way it should be.
The petty cash rule is just a mistake that was published instead.
It messes up the balance and works poorly.
Having played for years Dark Angels in WH40K....I can't say I am surprised.

This +1.

Wouldn't the banking rule render the 'flings almost useless?
They wouldn't get the 400k in inducements to include both Deeprooth and the chef, or am I reading the rule wrong?

Edit: considering the fact that you try to start your team with 400k less than the other teams, you'd have 400k in your treasury and you'd just get 100k in inducements. Right?

Pedda,

The banking rule simply states the first 150K in your treasury does not add anything to your TV. Any amount in the treasury after this first 150K counts.

The current official rules (CRP) state all money in treasury does not add anything to TV.

If a team has 400K in their treasury then 400K- 150K = 250K would be added to their team value before checking for underdog/overdog and base inducements.

Cheers,
Michael
