season 3 - league play - huge treasuries
Hi everyone,
We are entering Season III of League play soon and many of our established teams have very healthy treasuries. Any suggestions to nip this or should we let things ride?
Cheers,
Michael

There is no problem to solve - money doesn't matter in BB.

Not entirely true. Without denigrating his achievement in winning FUMBBL Cup X, RandomOracle was assisted in doing so by investing his large treasury in wizards and apo's he would otherwise not have been able to afford without incurring a TV penalty in other matches.
A large treasury also allows the continual replacement of linefodder while maintaining more than 11 players.

It sounds like you need more violent play style teams.
Large cash reserves on a number of teams means you guys aren't doing enough damage to each other...

According to our records we had the following deaths:
2013 year / 83 matches / 21 deaths
2014 year / 94 matches / 49 deaths
I am not sure if this would fall in line with a typical league average, however.

Re: season 3 - league play - huge treasuries
We have encountered this and, contrary to jimmyfantastic's assertion
, money matters in long-term league play. Chaos, Orcs and Dwarves accrue huge treasuries for things like dode74 pointed out, while Elves, Skaven, UW, Stunties, etc. are constantly playing journeymen because they have no money to rebuy dead players. When we see teams restart, it is often due to this reason.
Some things we do -
1. BOUNTIES - Allow coaches to place 50k or 100k or whatever on the lives of other players. If coaches are not doing this to naturally reduce treasury, then...
2. TREASURY CAP - Season starts, any money over, say, 400k (or whatever level your league chooses), MUST be spent or it is lost. Coaches failing to do this will have that extra money placed on their own players as bounties by the commish.
3. Use the Bank Rule, as mentioned by Rolex.
