Hey this is my Skaven team what do you think about it ??

1 Thrower
2 Stormvermin
3 Gutterrunners
7 Linerats

2 Rerolls
4 Fanfactor

I've got so many linerats because most of the time I get kicked against teams like orc's so I got many rats in the field, until this point it works realy wel. I also like to have 3 gutterrunners because I use 2 of them as offensive en 1 deffensive

I Realy think it SUCKS:pissed: that you only may use 2 Stormvermin !! I want to buy more !! but I mayn't !!

But what do you think of my team ??

drop a gutter runner for another reroll, starting with less than 3 is silly, think iirc i started mine with 4 and i often wished i had more.

If this is for a league, then you need a much higher FF. Rats will die, and you'll need more money coming in than FF4 will produce.

I'd drop a linerat for 5 more FF (up to 9)
I'd also look at going for 3 Rerolls. You really hurt for them on a Skaven team and it's hard to buy new ones when you're always replacing dead players.

I have a question on a similar topic, so rather than start a new thread I thought I'd ask here:

If everyone agrees high fan factor and re-rolls are needed for a skaven team in a league and also agrees that the only way you can add a rat ogre to your leage (if at all) is right at the beginning to get him block ASAP then how can I make a decent 1,000,000 gp lineup with a rat ogre, high Fan factor and enough rats not to get my arse kicked in the first half? I was planning on fielding a team that looked like:

6 linerats
2 stormvermin
2 gutter runners
1 thrower
1 rat ogre
4 fan factor
2 re-rolls

but it doesn't seem to mesh well with the conventional wisdom on this board. Given that I really want to use a rat ogre (for fun if nothing else) what should I do?

Simple, you don't

There is no good reason for taking a Rat Ogre in a starting team if you are at all interested in winning.

I think buying an ratogre at the starting of the season isn't good because they'r Farming expensive and that a skaven team could better begin without a ratogre and then when you've plaid some matches you could buy one....

If you're going to have a Rat Ogre, then you need to grab him at the beginning so that he can be building SPPs at the same rate as the other big guys around your league. A Rat Ogre who is behind the curve is a turnover waiting to happen.

As for whether or not to take a RO - see the other threads here. There are good arguments for and against (Summary: "New players NEVER. Experienced coaches can gamble.").

My starting skaven team (just started):

1 Rat Ogre
1 Storm Vermin (RO + SV is just or more effective than 2 SV)
1 Thrower
2 Gutter Runners
6 Linemen

3 RR
7 FF

It's a minimum 11 guys, and no apoth, but it's built to grow over time pretty efficiently. You'll be at a disadvantage in game 2 because the rats that get hurt in game 1 probably won't be replaced by then. You MUST buy your rerolls before you start because they double in price and FF is too hard to raise up later. Players cost the same before the season as they do during the season, so I'd rather buy extra players after the start.

Just another view.

I'd have to disagree with that one. IMO it should read:

"Experienced opponents NEVER. Rookie opponents you can gamble"

Since Wild Animal takes a lot of the negative trait effects out of your hands, you need to worry about how well your opponent will expoit it, not how well you can deal with it.

...so now you see why we recommended having a higher FF than 4!

More FF => More fans => More money.

I disagree. In some ways the best time to take a Rat Ogre is at the start. As both teams are rookie there will be a higher number of turnovers than you normally get at the start, so the extra losses the RO gives shouldn't hurt quite as much.

Also your RO should be able to pick up casualties quicker - no Blodge players to soak up the blocks.

Regardless 2RR and 4 FF is not high RR/high FF. If you really want to start with a RO drop a line rat and take FF 9.

Listen to Ian. He speaks wisely.

Here's an update to the team I listed above. I played 2 "pounding" teams in the first 2 weeks (chaos dwarves and undead). I scored 9 TDs and won both games. 1 rat killed, TONS of KOs, but no other long term injuries.

After game 1, I bought the Apoth. After game 2 I bought my 2nd Stormvermin (decent rolls and both opposing coaches brought lots of fans to the game as well). It has a Team Rating of 131 after only 2 games and the Rat Ogre now has his first skill (block, of course).

The RO cost me a TD against the undead which nearly cost me the game, but otherwise I've been able to keep enough other rats near him that he doesn't get surrounded and cause turnovers (Rat Ogre turnovers = 1/game so far).

So far, the gamble has paid off and I have easily the 'strongest' team in the league at the moment due to all the SPPs generated by those touchdowns. I'll let you know if it goes to horribly wrong...
