My Orc 'chucka' gained his first skill tonight after his 3rd TD pass in 3 games( ran a TD too). So, what's a good orcy skill to grab. Don't be fooled be the 3 comps. I don't throw the ball( 4times ; a lineman threw an INT once).

Block seems good.... ideas?

Well, if you intend to use him as a ball handler and to run the ball, then yep, Blocks good. In fact, block is a good skill for any thrower, for any player for that matter, though a bit boring

Block is a good first choice for Orc Throwers, but on doubles you could do something zany and take Mighty Blow or Leap!

Depends whether its a Ball carrying thrower or you just want to use him to pick up and pass to the blitzers.

As a ball carrier always take block as first skill, but if you get a double you can beat dodge.
First it makes him an even better ball carrier and secondly if you need the quick TD, it enables him to dodge out of any TZ's without risking a Team re-roll.

If your looking at a Passing thrower then Accurate and Strong arm, are pretty standard.

If you want to use him as a runner then Block is your best choice for a normal skill.

I would however recommend that you develop one of your throwers as a passer. The threat of a passing game helps your running game, in which case accurate.

Doubles has to be either dodge (for runner) or strong arm (for passer). NoS is also a good choice, especially if you take Dump Off next.

Yeah, by developing one of your throwers as a passer it will keep your opponent guessing and then you can modify the play for his defense :)

I like block or dump off as the first skill depending on the team, league, situation etc.

You are kidding right? leap on a guy with ag3 and ma5?

doubles for an orc thrower is dodge...unless you pass a LOT then strong arm.

other skills depend on how much you pass. I like to make one thrower a passing thrower and the other a running/defensive thrower. The passing one would take accurate first (then safe throw, block, etc), the runner would take block first (then after that it depends on rest of team, maybe dumpoff if i have some nerves of steel, etc)

Well, I did say it was zany. Besides, why not? Orcs are so reliable that having a thrower with a wacky combination of skills can sometimes make a big difference. Although I have to admit that Leap in our league is much better since we don't have to try picking up the ball when we enter it's square, so the thrower could leap into a cage and try to knock the ball loose (dangerous for the thrower on the next turn though).

Great now you have orc throwers thinking they're wardancers or something. I don't even trust leap on ag4 guys unless i absolutely HAVE to. I never GIVE the skill to anybody with less than 5.

Giving somebody a skill that gives them a 4+ roll with no reroll (you can use a trr but no rr in the skill like dodge or catch or whatever), and failure causes a turnover? that's more than kinda crazy. I'd say more like "useless"

As mentioned by pariah, i would take dump off or maybe accurate, its always good to have options. Even with AG3 its still more than a viable option to throw. you'll just need a catcher to make an instant cacther simply take AG3 player and add team re-roll, works for my human lineman while people are using my catchers as door mats.
Taking block is always good as already having sure hands it makes it tough to get the ball from the player.

anyway, just my two cents
