One Turn Wonder

I played about my 10th game today in my league, which is full of over developed teams, and my newly turned one turn wonder steve-0 a gutter runner with 10/2/5/7 dodge, sprint +1 movement, happened to score all four of my touchdowns today. and the dice rewarded him with the choice of very long legs or +1 movement, his next skill if the dice don't reward me again will be leap. We can expect to see great things out of this little rat. :)

One Turner

I would give him "Very Long Legs", because you will receive a +1 bonus at interceptions, which means that this Gutter Runner makes interceptions at 3 or more. The next skill which you can give him is "Sure Feet", so you can Re-Roll one of the gfi that he makes and you don't need a Team Re-Roll.
Or otherwise you may give him "Pass Block", because he has a good chance to intercept any throws which makes your opponents.

Only problem with one-turners is, while he scores most of the TDs and becomes a big star, the rest of the team stays undeveloped. Believe me, been there, done that. :)

Of course, you do win games with him on your side, but if he RIPs, what do you have? A rookie team that reminisces of the great star that once used to play for the team... :-?

Just develop another one to supplement him with one of the other three GR's. After all with Skaven , they tend to amass most of the SPP's anyway, so it wont be too long before the not so elusive double or +1 MA, turns up again.

Although i would have to say been there done that and it gets a bit too boring, maybe save him for the 8th turn when your opponent has used up all his eight turns in the half hoping to go into half time 1-0 up. he'll be most peeved when his boring 8 turn drive intended to set up the game for a second half 2-1 victory, is suddenly scuppered, with the score being 1-1 at half time and now you in possession at the start of the second. In fact i would now keep him of the pitch until this situation occurs, sort of a special play merchant

I was thinking about this...

I just started a Skaven team in our league last night, and indeed, both my TD's were scored by the same gutter runner.

My thought though, from more experienced Skaven players, is it worth developing 2 GR's as speed merchants, sprint, VL legs, etc, and 2 as defensive players, passblock etc?

My only other problem, is while I have no problems scoring (everyone fears gutter runners!) My team is getting very beaten up in the process!

I don't have any 1 turners on my skaven team even though i have had the chance to.

No.

Don't try and develop a 1 turner - let it happen naturally. i.e. wait until you get +MA before taking sprint/sure feet/VLL.

Give all your GR's block 1st. Then try to develop them into turnover specialists - Dauntless & Horns is great. Sidestep plus Diving tackle and/or shadowing is also very useful. Don't underestimate the use of strip ball either.

Good coaches wont let pass block be used against them and in a skaven team better saved for line rats with Foul Appearance.

Developing one turn scorers

Skaven don't need to develop one turn scorers.

Rookie Gutter Runners can already score in one turn. They just get better at it with the appropriate skill advances.

I need some clarification: 9247 Dodge can score in one turn? What have I been missing? Shorter board? Cards? Double Quick Snap? If this is true then the same goes for Woodie Catchers?

You can, using multiple push backs on opponents on the LOS, effectively push a GR 2 squares forward. This is done without blocking your own players.

Marcus did this against me in the ECBBL final and I believe Geggster tried it a few times at TBB.

I had that multiple pushback thingy done against me by a wood elf opponent. rather annoying and very confusing!!

Exactly how does those push backs work? I'm curious to find out as I got a MV9 player in my team, could come in handy.

If you hit someone and they fall backwards or get pushed back and the three spaces are filled then somone else has to be pushed back, you can't choose to push someone into someone else however if there are available spaces for him to go to! Thats the long and short, managing to score a 1 turn touch down that way is almost impossible i think!

It's good to develop a 1turn touchdown, it makes life a LOT easier when the other top team in the league is a wood elf team! Also it hardly detracts points from the rest of the team, unless you were intending to use lineman and storm vermin to score touchdowns! Which in my opinion is beating the objective of having a gutter runner!

1 Turn touchdowns are important but shouldn't be relied upon!

Munchkiny

I think the push back method of 1 turners is a bit munchkiny, it's not a true 1 turner in the purist sense :P

I also took up the option of the horns dauntless route, and he is turning into my top scorer very quickly having scored 6 TD's in the 3 games he's had the skills.

Blitzes the ball carrier and then runs off with the ball next turn to score, brilliant. :D

His third skill is looming, and I was wondering what people would take (Considering he's my turnover specialist)? I was thinking strip ball, any suggestions?

Gk.
